USA PASSPORT FOR IRAQI SON?

First, does my 10 months old son need a passport to come to USA, or is he going to be with his mother in VISA?

I am USA citizen. My wife had the baby after we started the visa application. My wife just got her visa interview AFTER TWO YEARS. I was hoping to get a passport for my son in the USA as soon as possible.

I called the visa center, some clueless guy told me to begin a new application which is impossible for a baby, since his mother will be coming to USA in a month or two. I don't believe a word they say, because they never gave me right answer EVER.

THANK YOU

Need:

1. Consular Record of Birth Abroad

2. US Passport

both can be done at US Embassy. Suggest to get soonish, he'll need those before getting on the plane with Mom

No need for visa for son.

What visa type for wife?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

It's Consular REPORT of birth abroad, followed by a passport application, followed by a passport issued.
