I-134 Revision

I probably already know the answer but I'll ask the question anyway.

I sent a package to my fiancée containing all the information she will need for her interview, which has not been scheduled yet as our approved petition is still in customs in Guangzhou. I just noticed the revision date on the I-134 expired on 5/31 and I sent mine on 5/27.

I'm going to send her an updated I-134 using the current revision. My question is does it need to be original, or can I email her a scanned copy?

In the future I promise to always check revision dates!:innocent:

The procedural notes for 9 FAM 40.41 indicate that the signatures on an affidavit of support must be original.

I'm glad you found the updated form and posted the information here. Thank you :)

Knowing that the form expired last month, I checked last week and USCIS still had the old form.

With regards to which form to use, The website does say previous edition accepted:

Edition Date :05/25/2011. Previous editions accepted.

I too, sent my fiancee the expired form last week, but I may send her the new form since I have to make a correction. I found that sending documents to her using USPS Express Mail flat-rate envelope works real well. She gets it in about 5 days. I mailed her a package on May 31st, and she got it on June 5th. She said the Chinese post office called and text her because she wasn't there to receive the package. She was on the phone with me at the time, and the poor mailman kept calling her and she didn't answer. Finally she got a text message, and she went to pick up the package. So putting her cell phone number on the package helps :)

Thanks Jim. I just looked at the USCIS website and it says "previous editions accepted". Should I risk it?

I hate to send just one sheet of paper. I guess I can find something else to send along with it since I haven't seen her since February.

Yes, I'm sure she'll appreciate a package from you, perhaps some chocolates :)

I don't think you'll go wrong with the recently expired I-134 she has right now. She can always print out a page from the USCIS website to show "Previous edition accepted." I'm sure Guangzhou knows that too :)
