There are more issues than that. They were also trying to prevent a two tiered type of system where any new employees would be paid less and have less benefits than the other employees. The union said no to a two tiered proposal and one of the capitulations was that Canada Post agreed to pay the same wage for the same work and provide the same benefits for the same work. There are other issues as well. They are having rotating strikes, apparently, which is certainly a lot better than everyone going out at once.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Yep, just talked to my mom this morning and she confirmed the local strikes... I guess that just means that their service will be even more slow now, if that was even possible

 You got that right.

I went ahead and mailed a couple of cards on Saturday. The most important mail I have I will courier today. I have another birthday card and Father's Day card I'm going to send as well. It'll be interesting to see when everything arrives. It's kind of a relief they're doing rotating strikes. Though that Union still gets my goat. I remember this one female mail carrier who had the audacity to demand that I relocate my mailbox from beside my front door over to the edge of the house so she didn't have to "walk all that way".

Canada Post is very slow but at least they are doing rotating strikes I guess.

On the flip side, I realized about a month ago that I no longer get mail on Saturdays in my area of New Jersey. Not sure if it's all of the state or all of the US but no more Saturday mail!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

We still get Saturday mail. In fact, we get garbage pickup twice a week, which really irks me. lol. Actually, what irks me even more is the people who have spray-painted their large rolling recycling bins with the word "Trash" and refuse to recycle. I think that's selfish and despicable.

We're still getting Saturday mail here in central NJ. I'm still not used to it though so I usually forget to pick it up until Sunday. laughing.gif

Twice a week garbage pick-up as well...in huge green bins that the truck picks up automatically. Unless I'm doing a major clean-up there is no way I can fill the bin twice a week!

lol about the mail. I'm finally used to it. I do recall asking my husband where to find a mailbox because I couldn't find one for the life of me. He pointed to the end of the driveway at our own mailbox. lol

We have HUGE bins for garbage. I might be able to fill a small kitchen bag in a week. Fill TWO huge bins in a week? Na uh. But there are lots of people around here who do. How can anyone create that much garbage? Oh wait. I know how. Don't recycle. :bonk:
