Hi all,

I have a large amount of evidence for having met within the last two years, as well as evidence for an ongoing relationship to include with my K1 application. I conduct a large amount of my transactions online and via email, so, as a result, a good amount of the receipts, call records, emails, etc are available online. Has anyone had any experience printing out these records and using them as documented evidence? For instance, I have booked a flight through Orbitz and don't have the ticket stubs, but I have an Orbitz account that shows extensive details of the trip. Also, I have Skype call logs that I can print out and my credit card statements online. Would a print out of the web page displaying this type of information be acceptable? Has anyone included documents like this before?

Thanks!

Personally I haven't. I have used one print out of myfiance's flight details that were booked online. I think it is a good idea to use what you have. Any records are useful. As long as your name is on the transactions then they are fine to use.

This type of information is fine, I am including it with my documents for my fiance's interview as well. If you have the original boarding passes from the flight that would be good.

Right on with the previous responses. Good to go, I also used SKYPE chat logs and receipts and itinerary printouts from Expedia, no problem at all. Gift receipts and snail mail correspondence also helps.

See the previous poster beat me to it.

I'm hearing two questions:

1. Does USCIS have concerns about these?

No, they did not have concerns when I did this.

2. Did you use any special process to print them?

I loaded a shareware program from www.pdf995.com that allows you to print to a .pdf (Adobe Acrobat) file. It adds an extra "printer" to your computer that when selected allows your to create a file in this format instead of printing it.

I then "printed" all my online documents like you are mentioning into a folder on my C: drive using this. That way, it is all stored on my hard drive in this ".pdf" format. I can use Adobe Acrobat to print hardcopies of these files to send in. Then, if I ever how to print them again for future forms, I know right where they are so I can print them again.

Best of luck!

With regards to Orbitz, it's not the online or offline ticket but your boarding pass which is most important. Even e-ticket holders are issued a boarding pass. Keep the boarding pass as proof of your flight. And of course entry/exit stamps in your passport are great evidence of a trip abroad.

Hi,

We used our online flight information to prove that I was where I was (ha ha ha - try saying that three times quickly, lol). It was a flight from NJ to Buffalo (I drove from Buffalo back home to Toronto). There were no stamps in my passport to back it up and no boarding passes, but if you have these things then all the power to you. What I did do though, was submit a credit card receipt that also showed that I was there.

We had to do a lot of creative work to prove that we had met, because we had no boarding passes etc.

Just tie your proof back to your "description of having met" story. What many VJers have said in the past is to create a whole picture for the adjudicator to see. You want that person to get a sense of your relationship and of the circumstances under which you met.

You don't need Proof of Ongoing Relationship at this point. When you first submit the K-1 petition, all they are asking for is Proof of Having Met. Save the Ongoing Relationship info for you embassy interview (or in case you get a RFE and they want more info).

Best advice - triple check everything and if you don't think a piece of evidence is not self explanatory, just add a little footnote to the page saying what it is. At least then YOU know you will have done everything in your power.

I submitted both...the printout from my e-ticket and the boarding pass. The entry/exit stamp is important too, as it proves you did take the trip for which you are submitting evidence. Did that make sense?

Of course, all of the above information is what we did, and is only my personal opinion. :)

This doesn't make sense to me. How can you not have a boarding pass? For security reasons, you must have a boarding pass. How did they do a tally of who checked in and who actually boarded the plane? The boarding pass is use to conduct such tallies. If your flight didn't offer boarding passes at all, how did they do the tally? Was this a tiny little plane with only a few passenger? I can't imagine a big airline not issuing boarding passes for each passenger.

I would like to add, too much information is not needed and may cause delays. The initial I129f only asks for proof you have met in the last 2 years. It may help to post what you have in your packet & people on here can yay or nay things.

I met my fiance while living there so we had tons of proof. But I only used the most vital info. A couple emails, 2 pages of phone records, passport stamps, boarding passes.

Good luck!

because we had no boarding passes etc.

why the 3rd degree? Maybe they lost them.

I'm in much the same position as you: I get no paper bills aside from the oddball bill from my dentist. What might help with the substantial electronic documentation is adding a statement to your cover letter indicating your situation. Here's the statement I used on our cover letter:

All submitted documents, except {petitioner}'s notarized birth certificate, are either copies of electronic originals or scanned paper originals placed in page layout program. Some documents have either been redacted or cropped to exclude sensitive or non-relevant information.
And include a notation next to documents which are electronic originals, redacted, etc. Having electronic originals actually made the assembly process much quicker: I have a folder-full of sorted, scanned assets, saved PDFs, etc. which I just dropped into InDesign. Even the multipage G325-As and the I129-F are placed in this document. Makes it a lot easier to organize. (Now if Adobe would resurrect FrameMaker as a Mac OS X native app...)

As for the lack of boarding passes, this is why you teach yourself to become a packrat ;) Seriously though, passport stamps are a legal record of your entry/exit of a country. They alone should be enough to document your travels, but if you want you can definitely support them with a printout from Orbitz, corresponding line-item from your credit card bill, hotel bills for the same period, etc. If you have a frequent flyer account with the airline you flew, they will still probably have a copy of the PNR tied to your FF#.
