My Fiancee is here on K1 from Vietnam. I was wondering if she assumes my last name after we get married, will there be any issues when we do AOS and SS # since the visa, passport, other documentation is all under her Vietnamese name. Is it better she keeps everything under her original name?

Any help is appreciated.

AOS is the time to process the name change. The name she gives USCIS for all of her documentation will be her official name in the U.S. Everything can be updated to reflect this new name after she receives her GC (or EAD.)

Thanks... So we will do all the AOS documents with her original name and change later when she receives GC.

No. If she will be taking your last name, then she needs to use her new married name on the AOS paperwork. The name you use is the name that will be on the green card. Changing the green card later is not simple. It takes another form, more money, and several more months.

I believe the poster above was saying that when she receives her green card in her married name, you can then go and change her SS card and IDs to show her married name.

Yes, that's what I was saying. Submit everything to USCIS in her new, married name. Once she has her GC, she can easily update the other things.

Sounds like there is some confusion in what is being said here.

You should submit the AOS paperwork with the name your wife is intending to take. If she is taking your last name then submit all AOS paperwork using your last name.

If you submit AOS with her maiden name, the GC will come in her maiden name.

Be careful and consistent and use the same on all AOS paperwork.
