N-400 early apppointment interview

Hi Guys,

I just want to share the experience first. My husband had early walk in finger prints at Nashville office. No questions asked.

Secondly, from the timeline i see there is a wait of 4-6 weeks for interview.

Does any one has experience of scheduling an early citzenship interview at Memphis office?

Please advice.

Since when can you can schedule your own interview?

I would have loved to schedule my own N-400 interview, especially early. I'm sure tens of thousands of others would love to do that as well. Unfortunately, the process of becoming a US citizen is a bit different from a doctor's appointment. The USCIS computer does the scheduling, and the computer is pretty ignorant of people's preferences and needs.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . Wow. I never once thought of scheduling our interview to be convenient for us and going early. Despite all the postings on this forum some of the silliest questions continue to be posted. We should have just submitted the n400 when my wife arrived here on her k1.

No you can not choose your interview date. Most likely it will be at a very inconvenient time.

Maybe the poster meant walking in for an early interview once they got the appointment letter.

You do not have an option to schedule your interview - but you can certainly call and pester to see if it gets you anywhere (squeaky wheel etc...).

There are things taking place behind the scenes (background check, transferring your case etc...) and you basically stuck with waiting for USCIS to finish on their own timeline.

06/17/11 - status change - scheduled for interview

06/20?/11 - received physical interview letter

07/13/11 - Interview in Fairfax,VA - easiest 10 minutes of my life

07/19/11 - Oath ceremony in Fairfax, VA
