No, it goes to the NVC first where it is assigned a case number.

Whats the next step after receiving noa2? just so i can be ahead of the game... ive read other Vj'ers timelines but everyone has different things, its quite confusing!..

once ur approved, do they sent the next packet straight to the foreign fiances address/embassy/consulate?...

from what i've read here, most petitions are sent to nvc first and then to the embassy/consulate where ur fiance(e) lives. after it gets there, they are going to send ur SO packet 3 (and maybe 4, depending on the country). check this out, it's very helpful ;)

Hi, congrats on your NOA2!

Visit the regional discussion forum of VJ, it's very helpful for stages after NOA2 since this sometimes varies for each Consulate...

After the Consulate receives the packet from NVC, they will send packet 3 or instructions to your fiancee, the waiting time between NVC & Consulate varies but is usually w/n 2 weeks. While waiting, your fiancee can start filling up the forms and gather police certificates, schedule for medical exam, and the USC can start with the affidavit of support...

You wait for yet another eternity at yet another government facility. We're pushing 3 weeks without even being received at NVC, but others get in and out in less than a week. It's all a waiting game.

call the embassy/consulate i hear u gotta push them too!..

Consulate doesn't have any say/control over it until NVC has processed it :(

Until NVC receives and puts it in their system, all you have is a CIS number. Consulates use NVC numbers, in our case, CRS (Caracas).

Also, while you wait for your packet from the consulate, I would recommend starting to look at the AOS guides here on VJ, if you haven't already. AOS is the immigration process you guys will go through here in America after you are married. This will let you collect any documentation you will need in America while you are still n your home country (birth certificates, police clearances, etc.) Particularly important for you to know at this stage is that you guys will need a copy of your DS-3025 (which is filled out by the Panel Physician at the overseas medical exam and submitted in a sealed envelope at your K-1 interview). Depending on the clinic/country/consulate sometimes they won't want to provide you with a copy, even though it clearly states on the bottom of the form that the applicant is to receive a copy. But push them and try to make sure you get a copy of this form when you leave the panel physician; it will save you time, money, and frustration later on.

I wish I had been aware of this form during the overseas medical exam.
