Greer appeared on A Current Affair last night to defend her views, and it was a cracking good show. "My feeling about Steve was always that he did not treat animals with respect," she told Karl Stefanovic.

"He seemed to regard animals as something he could torment … it's no surprise he came to grief," she said. "He humiliated them."

Proverbs 12:10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel

Steve Irwin bothered animals in their natural habitat and nature finally fought back and owned him.

I think we get your point by now ....

Why not give him due credit for his efforts in his part in educatinghis the world about Wildlife, and encouraging passionte pursuit to conservationism. Although his methods were not always the the best way he did Open the eyes of many people to wildlife conservation and his passion and genuine love for animals was very educational.

I do not advocate the way he would torment or tease "crocs" or other "dangerous Creatures" He eventually met his fate, The animal that did kill him acted out of instinct. No matter how much an animal expert someone is there is No taming wild animals or nature.

God Bless his family and Millions appreciate the good he did for wildlife and credit his efforts to the protection, awareness, Love and conservation of living creatures.

However, when looking at the pro's and con's of his work, Steve pumped A LOT of money into conservation efforts- the money he earnt went towards protecting the creatures he loved.

A whole bunch of people interfere- indirectly every single one of us- and do MUCH more harm than this guy ever did.

RIP Steve (F)

What Irwin never seemed to understand was that animals need space. The one lesson any conservationist must labour to drive home is that habitat loss is the principal cause of species loss. There was no habitat, no matter how fragile or finely balanced, that Irwin hesitated to barge into, trumpeting his wonder and amazement to the skies. There was not an animal he was not prepared to manhandle. Every creature he brandished at the camera was in distress. Every snake badgered by Irwin was at a huge disadvantage, with only a single possible reaction to its terrifying situation, which was to strike. Easy enough to avoid, if you know what's coming. Even my cat knew that much. Those of us who live with snakes, as I do with no fewer than 12 front-fanged venomous snake species in my bit of Queensland rainforest, know that they will get out of our way if we leave them a choice. Some snakes are described as aggressive, but, if you're a snake, unprovoked aggression doesn't make sense. Snakes on a plane only want to get off. But Irwin was an entertainer, a 21st-century version of a lion-tamer, with crocodiles instead of lions.

I reserve my respect and due credit for the army of zoologists around the world, working tirelessly, with just as much passion and determination, and whose methods are less-sensational but just as effective.

The first time I caught sight of Steve Irwin in his antics, it made me cringe. Waving snakes in the air, jumping on crocodiles, provoking animals in the wild. I wished one of those animals finally took him out. The idiot is dead. This should teach everyone not to ** with animals in their natural habitat. It's kinda ironic that a peaceful animal such as a stingray finally got him. It makes one believe that there is natural justice (or karma).

One can only hope that some of the idiots he inspired don't go out and kill stingrays.

:innocent: Steve Irwin 1962 - 2006 R.I.P. :innocent:

Some People may not have agreed with Steve Irwin antics.

I myself had a lot of respect for the man and his dream.

But like everyone else, I have my opinion.

I believe he brought the Animal Kingdom to your house.

He was a Enviromentalist,

He was a Animal Activist.

Any suggestion that he mistreated animals is just rubbish ... he educated a generation.

He was against using drugs to subdue crocodiles until the end.

He believed drugs were more harmful to the giant reptiles than any human contact,

and always handled them by hand.

My Sympathies goes out to his wife and children and to his family.

He will be missed.

Being loved by someone deeply gives you courage." ~ Lao Tzu

I don't know - I have to admit seeing the guy holding venomous snakes by the tail and 'worrying' crocodiles always seemed kind of crazy to me (and he could have died at any time while doing so)... Not to mention the guy managed to top Michael Jackson, instead of holding his baby over a balcony, he waved him over an angry crocodile.

Its ok if you want to endanger your own life, but a bit different to put at risk the life of someone who doesn't have a say in it.

There was nothing heroic in Steve’s behavior.
