Can I visit US pending immigrant petition?

I currently have a tourist visa set to expire in 2021. My US citizen siblings plan to file an family-based immigrant petition soon.

Can i still travel to the US pending such immigrant petition given that i still have a valid tourist visa? Will I be prohibited from entering the US once I reach any US point of entry? I usually get to visit the US once a year and I am just concerned that if a petition is filed on my behalf, i would not be able to go to the US for vacation for 10 to 15 years. Thanks!

Bring ties to your home country to show you MUST retrun. Your maximum stay will be about 6 months, do not assume that your tourist visa is good for 9 years that you can stay for 9 years (sadly, a common misconception)

entry is not a guarentee.

Good luck

I filed petition for my sisters last year. This year, my sister went and got her 10-yr tourist visa fully disclosing I petitioned for her. Had absolutely no problems at POE - only stayed here for 3 weeks visit even though they gave her 6 months on I-94.

As long as you can convince the officer at POE that you would not stay in the country and you would return back after the visit, you should be fine.

The only thing you need to be prepared is depending on the day for the officer he can put you back on next flight home and you should be prepared for it.
