Well first let me start off by saying I am new to this website and I find it very informative. I look forward to visiting this site at least 3-4 times a week to read new information posted here by other members.

I was married to a beautiful woman who meant the whole world to me. Her and I got married in December 2001. Things were going great between the two of us. However, all great things must come to an end. We were separated in 2006 and by 2008 I filed for divorce and the final judgement was signed off by the judge. That's all behind me now. I met someone else in 2009 (3-years after my ex and I separated) and we had a long distance relationship. I met her for the first time in May 2010 and I file an I-129f Form in October 2010. We are still waiting to hear from immigration. Now since I filed a sponsorship application for my ex wife and she never got approved for anything other than a work permit. Is the past going to come back and haunt me? Immigration wrote a letter to my ex (in August 2009) telling her to come in for biometrics almost a year after we got divorced. I wrote a letter back to immigration saying that we are no longer married.... .here is a copy of the divorce paper and letter i recently received in regards to her biometrics.

Immigration sent a letter back saying case closed. time for my question. Is my past relationship with her going to come up during interviews? is this why it's taking more than six months to sponsor my new fiancee?

Yes your new fiancee will be asked if she knows about your past marriages.....and all those children....and all those crimes. If she has knowledge of them then you'll be fine!

So your ex-wife was in the US in 2001 and you were married to her for 5 years without filing anything? Where in the process of getting divorced did you file and what exactly did you file for your ex-wife?

my fiance was separated from his x-wife for 20 years and he got his divorce sign-off only last 2009. When I had my interview at the embassy I was asked about the dates when we got engaged and when he filed his divorce & when it was approved, where are his kids and if the kids live with him. the proof of the divorce was attached in our I-129F. i dont know if this answers your question but basically your fiancee will be asked about these things from your past so better to keep her well-informed about it.

-correct. she came to the US in 1989 and we got married in 2001. We start the immigration process in 2002 if i am not mistaken. there was a whole bunch of confusion with some prior case of hers and everything got put on hold and they did to not reply back to her till 2009. by then it was too late. her and i got divorced so nothing came out if me sponsoring her

- i don't remember exactly what forms her lawyer filed. we put in her paperwork back in 2002 a year after we got married. due to a lot of confusion and questions about a previous immigration case, immigration did not get back to her till 2009 by then we were divorced

- thank you for your input. yes, i did the same thing. i attached my divorce papers to the I-129f form when i sent it in October 2010 for my new fiancee. i also wrote a letter stating again that i am divorced from my ex-wife and i also included old case number and explanation why i put an end to our marriage
