How important are the 2011 tax forms? Im expecting to have my interview by early May. My fiancee is a contractor and he hasn't filed his taxes yet. He said he'll get to it -- his dad is an accountant and is rather backlogged. I am getting nervous because I know there's a deadline this April. I am worried that his dad may file for an extension (he mentioned it one time). Will that cause problems? I am very stressed about this!

Also, any tips on what to have him send me with regards to the Affidavit of Support?

Thanks in advance! :)

You mean 2010 tax forms. I doubt he has all the information needed in time for the April deadline. He can use his 2009 tax return then since he did not file his 2010 tax return yet. All he has to do is call IRS and request his 2009 tax return transcript. He can also request 2008 and 2007 tax return transcript.

If your fiance is self employed what amount shows on line 22 of his 2009 form 1040? This is what is measured. If that is too low then he may want to make sure that his 2010 tax return shows enough income.

Thanks for this! I will have him call IRS to get transcripts -- I hear it takes a few weeks though. :(

Thank you so much! 2009 is 54,708 but 2008 is 37,874. No dependents so it will be just me and him.

I've come across some posts where some CO in the Manila embassy question even if you made 30k. My worry is that my fiancee lives in a big city where cost of living is high, so they might take that into consideration?

Mine takes 3 days. Actually, you can call IRS toll free number now (at this moment) and request the transcript via automated system.

Manila will want to see a 2010 tax return, so it should be there with the I-134 on the interview day. If self employed, line 22 is both 2010 income and "current income". If "employed", then annualize the pay.
