Congressman wrote me back and stated my file was approved and is now under a file freeze. I don't know what that means and he didn't elaborate. Anyone hear of this before?

Did he write this on Friday? If so, it could have been about the impending government shut down?

One reason why I like speaking over the telephone, then following through with a letter if necessary so I have a full understanding of what's going on and what to expect.

They put your file in a freezer?

That is a strange one, never heard of that before. I don't think it would have anything to do with what was the impending shutdown as USCIS is self funded.

I am going to reply by letter and ask what "file freeze" means as there's no such phrase in USCIS literature and that makes no sense that my file would be frozen so I am asking for clarification.

What ever a file freeze is, doesn't sound good, neither does a wage freeze. Now the latter, I know what that is.

Could be, a decision cannot be made at this time, like an infectious virus that recently has been flying around within the confines of the USCIS.
