Hi,

I'm going to copy my passport as my proof of US citizenship. It was issued in 2001 and expires in December this year.

When the form says "Copy of ALL pages of the US Citizen's passport issued with a validity of at least 5 years"--does that mean just that my passport lasted more than 5 years, or does it need to have five years REMAINING on it?

I was planning on renewing my passport after sending the application. I don't need to renew my passport first, do I? :(

Thanks so much!

The Story So Far:

Sep 2009 - Met at University in UK

Apr 1 2011 - Engaged!

Apr 18 2011 - Sent I-129F...hoping for the best.

Apr 29 2011 - NOA 1 - California Service Center

Jul 14 2011 - NOA 2 (76 days after NOA 1)

Your passport was "issued with" a validity of at least 5 years. You're good to go.

Thank you so much, Pushbrk.

That's pretty straightforward, isn't it...I think I've been reading through things so many times I start over-interpreting what it means! :bonk:

. . . which is Uncle Sam's way of telling you that he won't accept "temporary" passports and passports of children.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

one question on top of this one, when it says all copies of the passport does it means a copy of all 25-28(don't remember how many) pages?!

Yes - if using it to prove citizenship (or some similar reason), copy all pages - even 'blank' ones.
