Hello, hello, hello,

I'm wondering if anyone out there sees any potential complications with my process. I am getting ready to send my I-129F petition from Thailand (I have been here two months and will be here another four before I return to the US). I think it goes without saying that I will be back in the United States before the whole process is completed. On the I-129F form should I put my permanent address in the United States as my mailing address as opposed to my current address in Thailand? As well, my fiance will be moving to another location in Thailand when I leave for the United States. Should she also use a permanent mailing address in Thailand? Will it look odd if we are using different mailing addresses instead of our current address? Also, the check which I will be using to pay the petition fee will have a different address than my permanent address as it was my address before I came to Thailand. Any problems?

...and a question about Service Centers. In the fiance 'letter of intent' template in the Visa Journey K-1 guide it gives a space to put the address of your service center. Do I know this yet? I live in California. Is it safe to assume this will be the service center reviewing my petition?

...also, in the Visa Journey K-1 guide for sending off the I-129F packet it says that I should include a G-325A Biographic information form for both myself and the beneficiary. Do I send one for myself at this time as well or only for the beneficiary. I saw somewhere elso that I submit the petitioner biographic info. at a later date. Can anyone lend any clarity to this issue.

Thanks everyone,

Eric

Are you going to send your K1 packet while you're still in Thailand? Cos as far as I know, you can only submit it only when you're in the US.

Your letter of intent should be addressed to USCIS.

Both you and your fiancée need to fill up G-325A and attach a 2x2 picture

It makes no difference where you send it from as long as it gets to the correct place.

You would address your letters of intent to the same mailing address in Dallas, TX, where you will send the petition (which is where all I-129F petitions are filed now). It will be forwarded from there to either California or Vermont once the check is cashed and accepted.

You will need to submit one G-325A for you and one G-325A for your fiancee. I have no idea what's best in your situation regarding moving and addresses. The bottom line is that if USCIS needs to contact you and can't, you'll be hating life :P

One question though - are you working in Thailand? Someone else can chime in here, but a faster option may be to file direct through the US consulate in Thailand after you've lived there for 6 months. I don't know the residency requirement though if you move after filing DCF, but just something to consider - if it's available to you.

We're in the same boat. I'm Filipina and my petitioner and I started to live in Bangkok while traveling since October 2010 with intention of me going back to Philippines when he moves back to the US. In January, he filed I-129F, indicating our Bangkok address for both his and my current mailing addresses in G-325A. The I-129F was couriered to Louiseville TX lockbox. For purposes of the letter of intent, just indicate USCIS - you will not know where your petition will be assigned. We received NOA1 dated January 18, 2011 and it is now under initial review. If you decide to move, you can go online and change your addresses. It will update the information on your G-325A in their system.

It is problematic to change addresses for both the petitioner and the beneficiary in the middle of any immigration process. Use the permanent addresses so that mail gets to where it should go. Don't rely on VJ's guides solely. You need to read the USCIS instructions which accompany the form and highlight each action item, then go through them and cross them off as they are completed.

The petitioner has to have a domicile in the US, and they won't deliver mail to an address abroad. So, put your US permanent address down and a permanent address for your fiance.

However, the beneficiary's address is less important in BKK, as you can download packet three from the website and there's nothing that would require snail mail.

As Krikit stated, it's difficult to change the beneficiary's address, you have to do it via a letter to CSC or VSC. And yes, the guides are somewhat old, so it's best to do as Krikit stated, and go through the directions line by line.

I'll jump in about the addresses bit...

I was living abroad in the UK at the time of filing. On all my documents, I wrote the address I was living at in the UK, but affixed a supplement form starting that I wished to use my US address for all correspondence (it's my parents house).Worked brilliantly, no problems.

If you're planning to get married anyway, and will be living in Thailand for right at 6 months, I wonder if a direct consular filing would be an option for you?
