Traveling with K1 visa

Here it goes:

When I buy the airplane tickets for my fiancee and her kid, do I need to buy none stop or can I buy it with stops? let say Philippines -> Dubai -> New york or

Phil -> Tokyo -> USA.

They will be traveling with K1/k2 visa. I wonder if they will encounter any problems if I buy the tickets with one stop.

I doubt you will be able to find a nonstop from Manila to her final destination in USA

Layovers, I would give her about 2 hours to transfer planes/gates............

If your fiances passport wouldn't normally let her fly to Tokyo she may need what is called a transit visa even to land a change planes. You can usually find out at the stopover country's immigration site if foreigners need a transit visa.

It also depends of the country and the airport. In Beijing if you try to pick up luggage then you need a transit visa if you stay more than 24 hours.

If you are just there to transfer planes and not pick up luggage then you go thru a special gate called International Transfer and you don't have to go thru Immigration and customs

Been there done thAT! nO VISA IS NEEDED TO FLY FROM mANILA TO tOKYO AND CHANGE PLANES AND THEN FLY ON TO usa.

When my wife arrived in the USA with K1 visa, her flight was from Philippines to Taiwan to Seattle, WA (no other visa required when stopping over at Taiwan for plane change).

She used EVA Air and she was informed that when checking at NAIA on EVA Air counter, she was required to show the Credit Card used to purchase the ticket. I added her full name (her maiden name) as an authorized user on my credit card (no SSN required to add an authorized user to your credit card). I purchased the ticket for her online at EVA Air website. I mailed a small package that contained the credit card and other things to her in the Philippines via USPS insured. She then used that credit card with her name to show at the EVA Air counter in the Philippines NAIA.
