hello everyone

so quick question: after the final interview with immigration officer, do you still keep the original I-94? if the give you the original I-94 back that means AOS was denied?

What about if the I.O. doesn't even ask for the I-94? Is that even worse?

Because I-94 is (or used to be) your arrival / departure record, which shows that you have entered the country legally and that you have not overstayed. The date on I-94 tells you how long you can be in the US under the status you entered with.

When you are approved in an interview, you no longer need your I-94 to show your legal status in this country the next time you are traveling internationally - you will have a fancy proof of being an LPR, in stead of a stupid paper slip stapled to your passport

Oh boy ...good thing I clicked on this posting - so you got your I-94 back!?

I tell you, when I had my interview last month at the end of the interview the immigration officer asked me to put everything away - including my replacement I-94 and even my EAD. Even though I read here on visajourney before that its pretty much normal that the San Francisco office doesn't give you their decission on the spot, I really got concerned when I had to take the above mentioned papers home, too.

But, in the end, about 3 hours after our interview they e-mailed me a status update that the card production was ordered - so you see, it may be that they nowadays give you back the I-94 as they don't even give them to people on planes anymore when they enter the US. Try not to worry and just look forward to the positive surprise in the mail in the near future!!!
