yup, nothing to worry about domestically - when you go through security at the airport they just compare your boarding pass and your ID - if you happen to have a US Driver's license already that is sufficient enough for them, they are not border control, immigration officers. If you want peace of mind you always can also bring along a copy of any receipts you have from USCIS about your application, like the NOA1, just in case.

Have a good, safe trip to Cali and bring your raincoat if you are visiting the northern part of the state, it's supposed to get cooler again and we have rain off and on ;)

Interesting someone asks this. I have a question. My wife came here in 2001 with a tourist visa but overstayed. I applied for her on September of last year and thus far she has received her Employment authorization card but we are currently waiting for an interview. Can she still travel within the US even though she was illegal for a while but is not currently waiting for and interview and AOS approval? Our anniversary is coming up in 2 weeks and i would like to take her someowhere special. Maybe Disney World in Florida.

You can travel anywhere within the United States. As long as you have a valid ID. In fact you can travel with an expired ID but you will definetly be pulled aside by the TSA. Your wife can travel within the US. I have flown several times within the US and never did I encounter any problems when I went through major traffic hubs(NYC/Chicago) or minor traffic hubs (Tampa).

You can travel BUT if you travel close to any of the POE and that would be Niagara Falls, Detroit, Nevada, Arizona then you can be stopped by CBP and asked for documentation of immigration status. For peace of mind travel with your marriage certificate and Notice of Action.

Does your employment authorization count as a travel ID within the US?

Yes, but you have a passport, dont' you?

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

President Teddy Roosevelt on Columbus Day 1915
