Before you mail the green card anywhere... Make photo copys front and back of it. In case it goes missing so that you can apply for a new one. Personally I would not mail it, I would have one of his friends at the base drive you on the base to the appropriate office and show the documents in person. If you mail your actual green card and passport.. you have no proof of entry or identity really of being legally in the US.

Did you arrive on a CR-1 spousal visa, or a K1? I ask because your profile shows you as adjusting status, and K1;s answer is more difficult...

If spousal visa: Greencard should take less than 3 months, often only 2-3 weeks. However, they will have stamped your visa at the POE, endorsing it as a temp greencard for one year. Explain that to the base office and you should be ok.

MY understanding is if you arrived here on spousal visa then your passport is stamped with a temp GC for 1 year. As Inky said don't post that sort of stuff without making copies. And as you arrived here 130 you should get your GC relatively soon. Also you husband being active Military you should be able to expedite GC.?

If you arrived on a CR-1 the GC is normally, as stated above, less than 4 weeks (2-3 is average). However, it can take up to 6 months but I have never read anyone having waited that long. I would never mail such a document as a GC and/or passport unless it was absolutely necessary. If you do have to mail it make sure you insure it for at least $500.00 since that is close to the amount it will cost you to replace it. You should be able to go to the main personnel office on a base closest to you for them to make copies of the documents. Have your husband check with personnel at his base to see if this can be done.

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!
