thank you everyone for your inputs. I received NOA2 Feb 14 and just call NVC today and found out that my file has sent to the embassy on the Feb 18. I start look for the job on the day i got laid off. as you know it hard to find job at this time. I will keep looking and hopefully I will have a job before the package 3 and 4.

Check out the trucking industry. Always looking for drivers with no experience.

Work daytime at Mcdonald's and nite at Walmart (stocker) til you find a more permanent replacement jobs.

When it comes to push and shove, if you care enough, min wage job should be better than none, in cases like these.

IMHO, it's NOT the type of job or pay that matters to that CO (since you have some asset to supplement your income requirement). It's that you have a job and your S/O will not be a burden to the welfare system that matters.

Just remember, life over there in VN is NOT real! Your money will be worth a LOT less once you get back over here. Back to reality, cowboy!

Is confusedaheck right about no co-sponsor in HCMC?

They require a single status from the USC petitioner? This isn't in the packet 3 or packet 4 instructions. I didn't provide this, and was never asked to provide it. My understanding was that this is something that's only required if you plan to get married in Vietnam. It's also practically useless since the only thing you can get in the US is a statement that there's no current marriage recorded in the state you live in. They wouldn't know if you had married in one of the other 49 states or in another country.

Anyone else who had to submit proof of single status?

I did not have to submit a single status verification/document neither. But, I have heard of other people submitting this (not sure if it was required or advised). What Jim said is correct, it is practically useless to get that document and especially if you live in California because you have to go to your Local County Clerk's and Recorder's office for it. The state's Office of Vital Records does not provide this (as required by the Vietnam Embassy for marriage registration in Vietnam). And I agree, as far as I know, this is only required if you plan on getting married (registering your marriage) in Vietnam.

My state will provide one. Not real sure why I sent one as I never did the paperwork to get married in Vietnam but was starting to look into it if I remember right in case we were denied but also I do tend to do more than needed also on everything. I am kinda surprised since I had so many red flags and did so many thing wrong by what others say that I even got a visa. Maybe I am lucky.

My fiance just came over on a K-1 Visa. I used my sister as my co-sponsor and they accepted it. I guess it all depends on who you get at the interview.

Conrats, I know you are happy . And I wish you a long happy life together.

thank you. I still want a job and want to work, so any job is a job, and i can always get a better job later. It is difficult ,,,,following rules, knowing that when written instructions say one thing, and knowing the umpire makes and changes the regulations when and how they want,,,,,,but all we can do is jump through every hoop offered

If the petitioner has been married in the past they must prove their single status, I sent in my divorce decree as well as a notary from the clerk where I lived that they had no reccord of me being married

Yeap, K1-visa doesn't allow co-sponsor.

K1 visa does allow for a co sponsor, people say HCMC doesnt allow them, but if they are denied because of this with a qualified co sponsor then they are breaking the rules, it doesnt mean they cant deny you for a different reason just that they are not supposed to deny you because you used a co sponsor, and besides the one poster here that said they just did it I have heard of 2 others that were approved using a co sponsor, and a few that were denied, but the denial did not link the co sponsor as an issue

I did this for the interview NOT when I got married in VIetnam. All I had for my marriage in VIetnam was my divorce decree and that was it, no single status, I did however go to the embassy and fill out an affadavit that I was single, but I did NOT get one from my state for the marriage, but I DID get one for the interview, and if I remember the dirrections clearly state that if you have been married you must prove that you are divorced, this would include the affadavit that you are single, not saying the CO's look at them, and obvisouly in Jims case it sounds like they missed it, or maybe we think it is required and it is not, but that if you get one it adds proof for the divorce
