Max time limit until we interview

We have received our "packet 3" from London, but are going to need a little more time due to financial reasons. I have heard of K1's timing out, and want to make sure that does not happen to us. Now that I am looking for this information, however, I am unable to find it. Does anyone know if there is a maximum amount of time we can take before we send in our readiness form to interview in London? Thanks!

Typically a consulate will hold a case up to a year for return of P-3, however I would email consulate asking them to extend the K-1 NOA1 validity time, explaining situation.

Probably not, the consulates typically extend the validity of the I-129F NOA-2 letter if processing goes beyond the 4 month validity.

You can send the packet 3 and request the the interview in such and such month. We sent the P3 in a November and then asked for an interview in March/April...

Look at your NOA2. The approved I-129F has a 4 month expiration, so yours must be early June. If you made no response at all to London by then, they could technically assume you were no longer interested in persuing a K1 visa and close your case. I've read of VJ cases where London sent another letter saying last call, do you want this visa or not.

You can employ stall techniques that will keep your petition active in the eyes of the Embassy. Wait 4-6 weeks to send in your DS-230, DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157. You've responded before your petition expired so that keeps it active. Wait another 4 weeks to send in the form that you are ready to interview and request a date 2 months in the future. Variations of those things will buy you plenty of time without worry of the petition expiration. It's automatically extended if you are responding, albeit slowly.

We never got our packet 3 and we finally sent our packet 3 in early January. It was a month and a half after London sent us our letter that got lost in the mail. Well they said that they were going to issue that last call letter to us in the next few weeks. So you have a good month to get it into London.
