ok, i might just just go into the police station and ask for the forms today.. see how i go, thanks for that.. not sure if qld and nsw forms are the same but ill look into it.. cheers

Hi, just wondering how your visit was to the police station?

I went to the local NSW police station last week, and they gave me form P799, I told them it's for US visa purpose & the Consulate would need it.

At the back of the form it says, Form P799 - is standard disclosure, for general employment, visa, adoption, etc. and Form P800 - is full disclosure, for purposes exempt from the NSW

Criminal Records Act 1991, including employment as a teacher or teachers aide overseas.

So, I got confused and not sure if I have the right form that they gave me, so should I tell the police station to provide me P800 form instead?

Also, they would send directly the clearance to the Consulate and not to me. This is quite a problem since I want the police clearance processed early, so that this

becomes available on time when i have to send the packets to Consulate, and to avoid long delays. Anybody who can share their recent experience on this? Thanks! :)

Hey mate

I went into the police station and the lady wasnt sure which form i needed, so she got me to call the federal police as there was 2 fingerprint ones u can get, my form too had a section i could get it sent to the consulate but i put down my address only and its going to be sent to me.. im not sure of form codes or nothing but i know it cost me roughly $163 and that was in qld, so i would assume yours would be close to that too.. I asked if i had to get it sent to the consulate and they said if you want it you can get it sent to you, i have seen quiet a few people get theres sent to them and take them into the consulate interview with them... I think you should be fine with the one around $163, well thats what the federal cop said.. good luck.. i hope mine comes soon, i think its 2 weeks tomorrow since i did it..

Good luck, if anymore questions feel free to ask mate

Hi,

It's definitely the P.800 you need! I instant messaged another Australian filer who had recently had their interview and they used the P.800 and there were no problems.

Also, you can go to the NSW Police website and download the form from there if you like.

I went to Penrith Police Station, filled out the form (the lady behind the counter was unsure of which form but I put her straight). After a short wait a policeman came out and invited me around the back to the holding cells and charge counter (very interesting if you've never been there before). The fingerprints are done on a computer. You have to place each finger on the panel below the computer one at a time to be scanned. You also have to do each palm and the sides of each hand.

And that's all there is to it! Then the long wait. That's why it's good to get this out of the way beforehand. Then you only have to schedule your medical as soon as you receive your Pkt 3. My medical was completed within 7 days. (The medical's a breeze, too!)

Hope this helps.

I think the confusion over which form to use comes from the part that another poster mentioned....it says that the P799 is to be used for visas....but the embassy website says you need to have the P800 - full disclosure.

Also I think there is some confusion as it is stated somewhere (I think also on the embassy website) that for ppl in QLD and NSW the police clearance will be sent directly to the consualte...which obviously presents a problem if you are trying to get it done ahead of receiving approval and/or before your case arrives at the embassy. But there does seem to be ppl having sent to their own address as opposed to the consulate...which makes much more sense.

I plan on doing the P800 as this is what the embassy is saying you need...and taking a copy of where it says this on the website....so I can show the police this if they question why I am not using the P799 like they say. I'm sure though it wont be an issue.. but I figure its better to be prepared right?

Thanks guys for the info! I brought to the police station the P800 form I printed out from the NSW website, as well as the US Consulate website page stating that we should use P800 full disclosure form, including the page stating that we should send all the requirements together ourselves in the packet to US consulate, so when I showed these to them it was all fine and I had my home address as the delivery address for the police clearance, so it's all good, just waiting for our NOA2...

Hi everyone,

I applied for my NSW police check a couple weeks ago. I haven't received my NOA2 yet but i wanted to get everything ready in advance. I think i used the P799 form but i stated that i needed the police check for a USA visa. I also had my fingerprints taken. Does anyone know if this is going to be a problem and will i have to have another check done using the P800 form??

You definitely need the P.800 full disclosure form in NSW. You can download it from the NSW Police web site. That will save you mucking around at the station. It costs $175.

I recently applied for the Police certificate and it took over 2 weeks to receive. I also asked for it to be posted to my home address so that I could copy it and then send it to the consulate in my packet 3.

I hope this helps you.

Make sure you take the form with you... both police stations I went to only had the P799 and insisted it was fine. Until I showed them the website where it says P800 is required and then they admited they didn't do many and weren't 100% sure of the process. Made me wonder why they tried to change my mind if they didnt know what they were doing

Hey 2011fall :)

For South Australia, the Embassy website *Click Here* says:

National Police Certificate & Fingerprint Checks (NPC) will only be prepared for those people who reside in South Australia. South Australian residents living overseas should refer requests to the Australian Federal Police website or via e-mail at vetting@afp.gov.au. Residents of other states should direct enquiries to the police service of the state or territory in which they reside.

The standard timeframe to process a NPC is between 5-15 working days. The fee for a National Police Certificate & Fingerprint Check is A$140 (subject to change, please check current fee direct with SA police).

Please find guidance and application forms on the South Australian Police website.

I went to the website and had a look, the information page and link to the application form is here: National Police Certificate And the fee listed on the Canberra embassy website is now wrong, it's gone up to $159

Hope all this helps :)

Hi Everyone

I need help!! My I-130 has been approved and is now being sent to the NVC. I havent received anything from them yet, and guess it will take a few weeks before I do. I want to get everything ready and send it off as soon as possible. My question is - can I just go down to my local police station (I live in SA) and get a check done - or do i need that P799 or P800 form that a lot of you are talking about? Can i just go down and get a clearance? ANd if so - is it the National police check or the federal police check (with fingerprints). Im so confused PLEASE HELP!!!!!! :)

hey guys , it clearly states you need to get a fingerprint police report , its more in detail

you have to go into a police station and fill out forms show 100 points of ID and $140 ( name check and fingerprints)

and they send it to the Australia federal police and they put the name check and fingerprints on the same page.

I found out the hard way when i emailed the embassy and this is what they wrote me .

Thank you for your recent inquiry.

As you reside in South Australia, the National Police Certificate & Fingerprint Checks (NPC) will only be prepared for those people who reside in South Australia.

Thank you for your recent inquiry.

You may only use the Australian federal police certificate if it clearly states that it was based on a fingerprint check. If it states it is based on a “name check” then we are unable to accept it.

Kind regards
