Hi everyone!

I would like to ask few questions.

My boyfriend(petitioner) and I (livre in france) would like to start a K-1 visa petition. He is a little disorganized, so we thought of getting an attorney to be sure to get all paper in order, to do all neatly. I heard about Attorney " Eric P Chapman", Does one of you ever heard of him?If not, do you have any advice to find a good attorney? Or do you advice us any attorney? My boyfriend lives in KY, louisville.

Thank you lots everyone!

Célia.

if you want to file a ki visa, the 1-129f is not hard to do, there are examples, and vj member to help you it's easy, but if you want to pay hundreds of dollars to a lawyer then get a lawyer, there most be in your area immigration lawyer, good luck,

It really depends on your situation if you need a lawyer or not. Your boyfriend will have to do the bulk of the work with or without a lawyer. Either way your boyfriend will have to provide the tax returns, proof of a relationship, and all the needed information. Unless you have a case that is outside of the norm as jkelly07 has said all the forms are on the site and there are many people here that will point to you where to find the information you need.

Of course if your boyfriend has more money then he needs go for the lawyer. Unless your lawyer has a direct line to MS Clinton or someone high up in her staff I do not feel the lawyer will speed up the process but the lawyer will help to empty your pockets.

Good Luck in whatever you decide

Unless there are circumstances requiring an attorney, you can by all means do the footwork yourself -- given the USC is willing to put in the time to understand the process before beginning it.

Everything is here in the forum. Between asking questions, the guides, and the search button, there is a wealth of knowledge available.

Having made the mistake of paying someone to assist us before I found VisaJourney -- and then promptly firing him to do it myself -- I can tell you that it is much, much better to understand and maintain control of the entire process yourself if possible.

It's a stressful event by itself, let alone when you don't even know what is going on and are relying on someone else, a "someone" that might not even be competent or concerned in the first place. You wouldn't have believed this "immigration professional's" paperwork for the K1. It was horrific. The moment I saw it I dropped him and did it myself, and everything went smoothly from that point on.

I was just lucky to have found VisaJourney at that moment.

Waow!

Thank you sooo much everyone! I really thought i had to hire an attorney. I thought because of my age and age difference with my boyfriend, we could have troubles.. As I said before, I am 18 and he is 32 (even if he doesn't look physically 32 years old, and even less in mind).. So I really thought attorney could have helped us about it.

Thank you soo much all!
