It's a good thing IMO if it's supposed to stop this.

Do they really still play Super Nintendo in VN? Can those things even connect to the internet?

Super nintendos can't go online gaming. Vietnam is so old school. If they want to stop it they should regulate pricing for those internet cafes and raise the prices on them so little kids can't afford to play games anymore. They goverment should "tax" those businesses high so that they in turn have to charge their customers higher.

No, what they ought to do is let parents do their job, and stop being a nanny state.

The majority of parents can't do thier job there because most of them are trying to find every way possible to rip everyone off as much as they can.

I don't particularly like to stay in Vietnam because many Vietnamese only care about money. BUT the majority does not try rip people off! Especially, people in the country side and the middle part of the country. They are nice and even caring. However, I never have nice experience in Saigon during my last three times there though.

Really? I wouldn't think so! They love and adore us because we're handsome, smell nice and always smile at them. When I offered a few dollars ($20 to be exact) to a VN custom officer at the airport (for coffee money), he told me:

"No, No, Bac Ho (Ho Chi Minh) taught us "Liem Chinh, Chi Cong, Vo Tu" (translating....honesty, work hard, and keep an open mind)"

PS> Pun intended in this message.

Just remember, life over there in VN is NOT real! Your money will be worth a LOT less once you get back over here. Back to reality, cowboy!

It is rather sad that it's always the people from this very country that talk $hit about it., not only that is is repetitive in every thread that they felt there was an chance for the cheap jab. If you get scammed/ripped-off over there, that just means you're incompetent enough to get scammed/ripped-off anywhere. Generalization is the first tell-tale of the uneducated.

I don't think people are trying to find ways of ripping everyone off, but i do get the sense that people seem to be conniving up ways to make money.

I think being scammed and ripped off are two different things. If a taxi cab used a rigged meter to charge you a higher fare, you got scammed, and i sympathize with you. If you pay 10 for a tee shirt and a local paid 5, you got ripped ripped off and i don't sympithize with you. that's just free market.

I have to agree with you on this point. To many Vietnamese, money equal prestige, power, and even love. With this says, it is all depend on the people. Not everyone is like this. And certainly not the majority--although it may seem that way when one traveling in Saigon.
