Click on the GUIDES at the top of the page, and you will see the steps for filing an IR-1/CR-1 petition to USCIS. Quite a bit more paperwork involved than just the I-130, and photocopy of his passport. If you still have questions AFTER reading the guide, please feel free to ask questions. Someone is always here on VJ to help you out.

Hi dantes!Yea i just read the GUIDE there and it is said that on the first step we need to pass the documents including our marriage contract and a visa type photo of petitioner and beneficiary. But my husband already filed last october and we have now NOA1 but they didnt tell us that we are lack of documents they just inform us that our petition is "on the process".I am worried maybe lacking of documents on our first step can cause any delays on our NOA2 :( Anyway thanks a million to ur reply dantes.

Hopefully, your husband filed all that was needed and simply didn't provide you with any details. If you are concerned, then ask him to provide more details of what was filed. If between you, you determine something that should have been sent was not sent, you can get it ready for when they request it.

This is the first step in a long journey. You will be fine as long as your husband submitted all the required documents. Even IF something is missing, USCIS will let you know, and your husband can send in what they request. Don't spend your time worrying about WHAT IF! Take the time NOW to start preparing for the next stage - NVC. Above all, read the guides, and you will be prepared for a smoother journey. You will have ups and downs all throughout this process, but KEEP BUSY with upcoming paperwork you are going to need. A lot of people here on VJ will help you if you run into a snag.

Thanks for your good advice Straight Talk member.I really appreciate it,We are hoping that we will have our NOA2 earlier so that we could comply those missing requirements on our first step. Now that we knew the steps because we just read it here at visajourney. One of our friends also told us that NOA1 is just a notice to inform us that they received our petition & maybe on NOA2 they will let us know what are those requirements to be comply(cross finger)We're now hoping to receive our 2nd notice earlier...Best regards!

-Just wait for me my dear husband we will be together soon-

Since you have received the NOA1 you are now waiting for NOA2. However, an RFE can be issued at any part of the process.

May love and laughter light your days,

In reality receipt notices, RFE's and approval notices are all NOA's (Notice of Action) We only HOPE that the second such notice is the approval notice. If something is missing from the file, the second notice will be a request for evidence to complete the file, making hopefully the third notice, the "approval notice".

You MAY be missing an important step. That is to compare the list of what should have been sent, to what actually was sent. If you find that something was missing, get it ready now, so you can quickly respond to any request for it.
