Hello VJers:

My husband recieved his EAD card on February 3rd, 2011 and applied for his social

security card the very next day on February 4th. The social security office said that

it would take about two weeks. I would like to know how long did it take for you

guys to get your social security card? I am really curious and would like to know

about other people's experiences. Thanks a lot.

YES  it takes nearly that long for USCIS to update status of the SAVE database that SSA uses to confirm immigrations status. SSA will simply wait the 2 weeks to confirm, or they do a manual confirmation with USCIS which can take 2 weeks..

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

They told me the same thing but I got mine in 5days.I guess the 2 weeks thing is to make up for any unforseen circumstances that may show up.All the best

Depends on if they were able to clear the application while you were in the office, or at least the same day. If they did, need to allow at least 14 days to receive the card in the mail before reporting a non-receipt. Actual time is going to depend on your mail service, but normally it is received before 14 days.

If they need to verify immigratiion status, it could be as little as another week to verify immigratiion status and clear the application, plus the mailing time to receive the card. If you are unluckly, it could be a month or more to verify immigratiion status.
