Hi All,

I was just curious to see how some of your are handling the issues around the interview and then if the Visa is approved, then bringing your significant other back here.

Are any of you planning on going to the interview eventhough you will not be allowed inside? How are you making your travel plans as it is risky to make travel plans to bring your significant other back here until he/she has Visa in hand? Are you going to Turkey to travel with your significant other back to the states or is he/she going to make the trip alone?

Sorry for all the questions I am just curious. Just trying to start planning and thinking ahead and suggestions/ideas from other members could be helpful. I am trying to determine the most cost effecitve way to do things but in all honesty if I am physically and financially able to I would love to travel with my fiance from Turkey back to the states once his visa is approved. Just wondering what everyone else is doing if I am not prying too much!

Thanks everyone. Hope you all are doing well and I hope you VJ is going smoothly ( okay, as smoothly as it can be...right? )

I'm planning to travel to Chile when my fiance interviews. They do let fiance(e)s attend the interview there. Since I can only stay a week, and Chile does not hand over the visa the same day it is approved, it is likely that I will not be able to travel with him when he comes here. I do think however my being there will help his nerves and will look as a determinant for an ongoing relationship. I will have other proof, of course...

I-751 Removal of Conditions sent - 9/7/13

NOA1 received - 9/17/13

Biometrics appointment - 10/8/13

Removal of Conditions approved - 12/16/13

It's a strong positive to be at least "around the consular premises" when the SO interviews. It can score big points to hand your U.S. passport to your SO to take to show the CO. Who knows -- the CO may then even invite you inside.

Also, it's a huge risk to plan on traveling back together. The visa can be refused, or it can be delayed for any number of reasons (including the consulate's printer being out of order).

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

As per the instructions that we received from the Embassy in Ankara, "Please note that you must attend the interview together with the US Citizen petitioner" and even if it was not required, I would be there anyway, there in no way that I wouldn't be.... We have been through a lot together (we say "Hell and Back" and that is no lie!) I was told by another VJ member that if you email the Emabssy and ask them if you can attend and get a positive answer (as she did) then you can print that out and take it with you if you as proof.... he he

As for traveling back to the states together, that is the plan. although it would be ideal to have me go ahead and start applying for jobs... we have our house and car already and now it is just a matter of getting a job! I have never had a difficult time in securing employment BUT I have been out for the workforce for almost 3 years now and with the economy the way that it is it may be a different story! My Family is eagerly awaiting and we are looking forward to days together again! We will be searching for a good ticket for the two of us (yes I am frugal) if anyone knows of a GREAT website other than the norm..... anyway I wish all the best for everyone eagerly awaiting their trip to the Great US of A !!!!:dance::dance::dance::dance:

Wait, you were instructed by the Embassy in Ankara that you must be present for the interview? I am confused, I thought only the beneficiary was required to attend and then like you said, if we wanted to attend we had to get approval from the embassy? Ohhhh but you are an I-130, I am a I-129F so I believe it is not required for me to attend the interview only that my presence may be helpful to him. So, you are planning on coming back here with your fiance after the interview is completed if the VISA is received and approved?

Thanks for the information I really appreciate it!!

That is the instructions for DCF in Turkey and this wonderful Man is already my Hubby, we were married in the states... In Las Vegas over 3 years ago. I am not sure what the "rules" are for Fiances.... does it say on the website that lists all instructions for K-1? I was reading it yesterday and is similar to the instructions for DCF..... If you don't have that let me know and I can try and find it again if you don't already have that in your "box" of Immigration files/links.....:) OR you can e-mail the embassy and get their "OK" and you will be fine. How are things going in your "journey" and did you enjoy your trip and your sweetheart?(L)(L)(L) Where does he live?

That is great news ceyhunihal,

I can imagine the pain, I was away from my Hubby for 8 and a half months in 2009 and I thought that I was gonna go crazy, funny how we Ameriturks are for our Darling Husband's! Why did they move petitions from CSC to TSC anyway? I think that caused more of a backlog than if they would have left them alone in the first place BUT we are talking about the Government.....:whistle::whistle:

I hope that you have a great trip and enjoy yourselves when you are there and call wherever your supposed to call like every other day and ask for a real person like a Tier 2 and dont take no for an answer,,, you know what they say... "The squeaky wheel gets the oil"

P.S.

I have this posted on the Dec 2010 K1 forum as a matter of fact! Selvi and I were just discussing this re: One way or R/T tickets for "THEM" to save money, and the questions immigration might have for those on K1's regarding a fiance's RT. Evidently, they're used to this, as are the airlines. I don't know if I'm going to be able to get there or not at the moment. First things first.... HE HAS TO GET HOME SAFELY FROM BASE! Then, we'll think about plans. Gotta be realistic yanno?
