Sending money to Vietnam cheapest way

I think Western Union is $2 per $100, with a minimum of $6. So, any amount up to $300 would cost $6 to send. $400 would cost $8 to send, $500 would cost $10, etc.

With Western Union it doesn't matter what part of the country you're sending it to, and there are Western Union shops all over the country. Many of the little mom n' pop shops provide Western Union services, and many of the hotels do as well.

Some of the Western Union shops in VN have gotten very picky about identifying the payee, especially if they have a common family name like "Tran" or "Nguyen". They won't pay out unless the payee's middle name appears on the transaction. Unfortunately, the Western Union forms and online system only ask for first and last name. The trick is to enter the middle name in the same box as the first name.

Once you've paid for a transaction the money will usually be available at any Western Union shop in Vietnam within minutes. Be sure to give the payee the MTCN transaction number. They'll need that, in addition to some identification, to collect the money. Also, set up the transaction to pay in US dollars. The payee can usually get a better deal converting the dollars to dong than the exchange rate Western Union provides, and Western Union charges a small fee for currency exchange.

"Le Goi Tien Le" is $1 per $100 to Saigon and Hanoi, $2 to provices and they give your recipient USD on the same day. I've used them several times, they're pretty much the the most popular provider and have locations in several states. The money is delivered by the Dong A Bank in Vietnam:

Vietinbank have the same service as Well Fargo, sent up to 3000 USB for 10 dollars. The receiver doesn't have to open the bank account. If you send money a lot the service is very fast, they could pick up money right away like Western Union.

if you sign up add me as referal.. email is leonlyt@comcast.net

Jim, Are you sure on the Western Union? When I checked their rates online, it seemed higher.

I just checked again. Out of curiosity, I entered Chicago instead of the California city where I live. It was $15 to send $500 from Chicago, and only $10 to send $500 from California.

Do they take mailed checks? And do they deliver to the recipient's home? Have you had any problems with them?

When you send to the same person, do they use the same courier each time?

I live in US. I used Wells fargo expresssend service. it costs only $9 fee for $1000 or more. And family in viet nam will receive in US dollar.

or you can use vietinbank. it costs $10 for $1000.

Please be careful, if receiving in VND, there might be hidden fee. Better receiving in UD dollar.
