I 751 Approval Letter on plain white paper?

Hi All,

I just received approval letter in the mail from USCIS today. Only the letter in the mailbox, no card, no email or text message notifications. The letter says "Congratulations! Your request for the removal of the conditional basis of your permanent resident status has been approved. You are deemed to be a lawful Permanent Resident of the United States as of the date of your original admission or adjustment of status."

Also the letter suggested I should receive a new card within 60 days. The date of decision on the letter is 01/10/2011. However, I'm a little surprised that the approval letter was printed on just a plain white paper, not a USCIS letterhead like other letter I used to get from them. So I have a few questions for those who already got their approval letter.

1. Do the approval letters you guys get were printed on a plain white paper just like me?

2. For me, on the bottom left corner, it was printed the address of my local office, however, the envelope was postmarked and sent from Lincoln, NE. Is this the same as everyone?

I'm still a little skeptical since I've been waiting for a long time (almost 5 months), and also there's no email updates for me like others. I just checked the USCIS website, it's still pending. So I'm not sure if I should celebrate just yet.

Pa-ra-noi-a.

The fear that everything is bad. Kind of.

Would you be okay with raising the cost of the I-751 by a few dollars in exchange for fancier paper with an impressive letterhead?

What you got is the letter telling you that your ROC petition has been approved. You'll have your 10-year Green Card in the mail within 7 to 10 days.

Congratulations.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

P.S. Relax and enjoy your approval. Forget what USCIS website says. You'll get your green card in a few days. That's it.

Congrats.

At first, congrats on your approval Lullaby78  !!

Here is my curious question

How about approval letter from VSC? Printed on plain white paper too these days?

Because mine was printed on fancy (same as NOA and Bio letter) paper and postmark was same as VSC zipcode :) (back in Mar 2010)

Thanks everybody for your replies. I guess I'm a little too paranoid about everything and that's just my nature. Also, after almost 5 months of waiting and being one of the last filers in August's list who got approved while 75% of September filers did get approved before me, I already thought I will be called for interview for sure. Thank God it didn't happen.

It still says pending on USCIS website but I guess it doesn't matter since I got my approval letter. Thanks again everybody.

PS. Yurika&Jim, it's interesting you got your approval letter on fancy paper. Maybe it was a VSC thing, I'm not sure.

  • 1 month later...

I think USCIS is putting some changes as to how they send their letters. I actually did not get any approval letter just like yours, but I received my Green Card in a USPS flat rate mailing envelope instead of the normal USCIS letterhead Envelope that I always get. It did not even come with the Welcome Letter they used to print in fancy paper, like the one that I received when I got the 2 year Conditional card. I just got the letter saying "Your application has been approved, here is your new card..." I guess they did approve your petition.:) Congratulations on that, however, if you're not sure, you can always call them...:) Don't worry, I get paranoid too..:)
