Last minute rescheduling.. HELP

My wife was given an appointment date about three weeks ago for biometrics but we'll be out of town. We promptly and clearly responded in letter form asking for a rescheduling of her appt. to be some time after we come back home.

We received another letter telling us that the appt. has been rescheduled to 11 days after the initial date right in the middle of our time abroad.

Is there a better way to contact USCIS or a more prompt clear tried and true way to get the message across that we'll be gone during that time?

Do we have any other options?

Thank you.

Did you try doing a walk in? if you can't do that then you need to send it back requesting another date again. I would go do a walk in and tell them that your going to be away and you already requested a different time etc.

Why not go . . . uhhh . . . like tomorrow or Wednesday?

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Moderator hat off . . .

As the other posters have said, go to the biometrics location. Bring along your copy of the first appointment letter and your letter requesting a new appointment, along with the new appointment letter. Also bring along proof of your travel itinerary showing the dates you are away and the obvious conflict. Since you did try a reschedule and it wasn't set for after the time of your wife's return (it sounds like you did provide them with the dates she would be away in your request to reschedule, yes? ) you should be able to ask if you can do it as a walk-in as you are not going to be available for either the original or rescheduled appointment time. If they say, yes, you are fine. If they say no, then be prepared to leave a request with the guard at the ASC office for another re-schedule after XXX date and include a copy of the flight itinerary as proof that she is not available until after XXX date - as stated in the original letter.

You should be able to do a walk-in, however, but the second option also exists. Good luck.

Thank you, Kathryn41, for removing the duplicate post. I thoght the other got fuzzed and reposted only to find it was there and I was unable to delete and blah blah blah... sorry abot that.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. It's really hit and miss with our office in Seattle. Many reports as of late are "We were turned away" reports.

Since my wife has a one year extension we plan on risking it with Immigration upon our return.
