Nuts with guns

Let me declare my interest:

I have a Glock 26 9mm pistol with a 17 round magazine

A Ruger 22 LR pistol 10 rounds

A Ruger LCP 380 pistol

Two 303 British Lee Enfield rifles

An AR-15 5.65 mm with 3 x 30 round magazines

A CZ 22LR Bolt action rifle

A CZ 5.65mm bolt action rifle

I shoot only targets and I brake for earthworms when I am driving. I don't carry a gun in public though I do have the permit to do so. My guns are for shooting paper targets and not people or animals.

I think the ease with which I acquired these guns is ridiculous given that in Europe and the US, we have adopted the policy of turning mental ill people out into the community to save money

I acquired all of these after filing in a form which asked if I was insane - a bit like the visa waiver landing card which asks if I am a terrorist - tick yes or no.

I think it's time that the Police or some agency were tasked with carrying out careful checks on new gun buyers and that all resales were routed through dealers who could initiate the authorizations the same as dealer sales.

Gun enthusiasts (like me) would have nothing to fear as this would only impact people who were not thought emotionally or mentally suitable and it could be appealed to the court with the onus of proof on the Police

The present system is negligent

The people who appose this are suspicious of/hate their own government and are full of conspiracy theories and world domination of Marxists and will not yield to any checks on gun ownership for any reason

These people do the shooting community and their public a disservice by standing in the way of reasonable checks.

Well at the mo, we self certify that we are ok mentally and have not been committed..

If I lived in a trailer park and fought my 300 pound girlfriend every night after we got drunk/drugged and we were both in and out of the emergency room for hitting each other with bottles...

...and if the trailer park owner was getting complaints of cars pulling up there all hours of the night and wild partying and fist fights and screaming tires..

...then in England, the Police might say no we don't want to put at AR-15 into this mix

people can appeal of course in case the Police were being unreasonable

Now this isn't describing insanity which is what you have to have to be barred at the mo - but it is describing a situation where guns should not be part of it....

If they havent got felony convictions and haven't been judged insane, then they can fill the trailer to the roof with the most powerful weapons available...

Who would give this couple all the guns they want ?

It's totally irresponsible and no way to run a society

If having more than one gun was the definition then I would plead guilty to that. I got my first Police Firearms Certificate in Ilkley, UK in 1964 and so far I haven't threatened or shot anyone, so I am a pretty good bet to be safe.

I listen to Glen Beck on my way back from the range as it's like watching the 9/11 attacks - horrible but compulsive.

This week he was selling gold and special unhybridized seeds buried at the south pole that I can live on and feed my family when the socialist zombies take over. Enough to plant an acre - wait a year for them to come up.

Then he was selling gun safes and to keep documents no doubt like birth certificates, medals and ammunition..

Ar first I almost cried laughing at all this but seriously, he is part of the apparatus that is goading and whipping up the worried simple people so that they can hardly sleep for fear of their own government and international conspiracies who are coming to get them. Foreigners who cannot stand the freedom of Americans to scream hate at the funerals of soldiers and want to stop it.

Some of the poor old buffers up at the range are pale faced with worry about Mexicans and foreigners and the US dollar's value and black people in the white house and how to feed themselves when the Marxists take over the town. The worry is making them ill and it's people like Beck and Palin and Bachman who are feeding it and making millions and have no conscience about what they are doing. Those rabble rousers are the most anti-American people in the whole world for the damage they do to the contentment and happiness seeking of the old, the vulnerable and the feeble minded and the mentally ill.

I digress; but Beck and Limbaugh and Bachman and Palin etc wouldn't matter so much if the insane and simply unsuitable people were prevented from getting weapons

I am willing to trust the Police as checked by the Justice system (yes the government) on this rather than leaving it as it is and accepting the daily slaughter. I can't understand people who want to accept it as an unavoidable overhead to their hobby

If I could bring that little girl back, I would throw my guns in the Columbia right now, but there are many who would not - and that is a definition of the political difference in this country
