how long will we sit in the initial review step!

Timeline

We filled our Petition for a fiance visa and was received on 10/29/2010 and it has been sitting in the initial review step ever sense.

I am so Ready for my fiance Diego from Costa Rica to get here! i check the status twice a day thinking it will move to a new step.

any one how my know what to expect or how there process is going would be great.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Current processing times for initial approval is about 5-6 months. After that your fiance schedules an appointment at his local consulate before getting his visa, and that takes some time too.

Also, don't bother with the status check on the uscis website. It is not very reliable and doesn't show information accurately. Good luck.

5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Timeline

It will remain in inital review status until a couple of days before NOA2. At that time it may show being touched, but it's also possible it will never be updated even after approval as in our case and others I've read about here.
