I would like to thank you for this thread. Now all the google ads and banners are for Russian and Pinay wives, brokers, and agencies.

This Rudyard Kipling poem sums it up:

Now I aren't no 'and with the ladies,

For, takin' 'em all along,

You never can say till you've tried 'em,

An' then you are like to be wrong.

My daughter reasoned there must be a lot of spare Thai guys as all the girls had been exported - and wondered if she should get one of those to take her out of her council house existence

I told her it didn't work like that

I am wrong ?

If the export of ladies goes on, then Bangkok will end up as the male bonding center of the world.

I'm not sure most of the ladies are coming from Bangkok. Also, other countries are in the same boat as Thailand.

I think it's counterproductive to the vitality of the internet to block ads across the board, since it is a source of revenue. The pop-up windows are annoying as hell, but most banner ads I find tolerable.

I dunno, blocking ads works out pretty well for me. I love to go to, for example, yahoo.com or VJ and never see any ads. I call it "purifying my web experience". Someone has to write the software to block these ads, so think of it has taking money out of the hands of advertisers and putting it into the hands of product developers.

No, probably not. I was suggesting that Thai women immigrating to the US come from cities other than Bangkok in greater numbers.

Why does this bit not surprise me at all?

Nothing surprises me about your gullibility.

Obviously one's appearance is mostly the product of one's genes.

If the nice looking genes are been exported, the average looks of the Thai nation must be headed lower whilst the average looks of the American population must be improving

Economics apart, this is surely cause for Americans to be optimistic about the future in one aspect of their society at least

It would be ironic if Americans became poorer and better looking at the same time as Thailand became richer and less good looking... an equilibrum would be achieved eventually I suppose

Perhaps that is globalisation in action and we are watching it take place in all sorts of areas and not just cheap shirts
