Hello guys,

Was wondering if I can get any pointers on where to buy cheap airline tickets. I am planning on getting a 1 way ticket in January to Texas but really confused about how to get my tickets cos the ones I found online were quiet expensive. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as always. Cheerz and happy new year to us all in Advance.

One way tickets tend to be ridiculously expensive. We've had luck booking them using airline miles before; they were sold at the normal (half of round-trip) price then. Or, we've booked a return flight far into the future with no actual plans, then paid the change fee when we make plans to use it (although this isn't a great solution since then you have to do the same thing again to get back!).

Doing alot of research online is very good. I used www.priceline.com when I flew. Booking a flight on Tuesday or Wednesday can save you alittle more money. Good Luck :)

A lot of sights / airlines are having issues with scammers making fake reservations so online their prices are about 2 or 3 times what they really are. The best sites to check are Kayak, vayama and bt-store. Delta is much cheaper if you call and talk to them ( the are scammer phobic online ) and Emirates has good one way tickets. Also if you are paying for him to travel with a credit card ask about what you must do if the ticketed passenger is NOT the person with the credit card. Many times if you do not go to a place ( airport /airline office ) where they can validate you and the card the ticketed person will NOT be allowed to board.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

My fiance when he came got a round trip ticket on DELTA and that was way cheaper than a one way ticket the price of a one way ticket was double that of a one way also we did find air maroc had a one way ticket for 1000.00 USD but he didnt want to fly through all those other countries so it was best we went direct from Lagos to the USA Good luck and happy new year to you too

The cheapest I've been able to find from Lagos to Houston is $1270 one way on Emirates Airlines. Delta is a bit more and you have to book a round trip, because one way is very expensive. Emirates seems to have a lot of options. If you find something cheaper. Please let me know. Happy New Year. Safe travels.

Thanks for your reply.....actually found something cheaper with qatar airways. 1033 USD one way. There is a bit of delay in DOHA for about 8hrs but there is free hotel accommodation for the duration of stay there.

Are you near New York by any chance? Because, Arik Airways flies direct from Lagos to JFK in NYC now and if you call them, the prices are much better on the phone than they are on the website.

I'm a bit late to the party but for anyone else looking into cheap flights to/from the USA I would recommend using a travel agency, I use Adam Travel when I flew to Sudan and they did an awesome job at finding me a cheap flight.

Really? Cheaper to call?

I flew with Delta and purchased an online ticket but when I checked-in I forgot my credit card. Fortunately, I had a family member with me and they cxl my credit card and charged their's. I ended up paying $100 less than an advanced purchase online!
