Yes Mew, I am defensive these days. The things that I know to be true, I defend until the end.

I will always defend you, because you understand!! Cheers Mew!!!!

I'll defend you!

I think they went to update their timeline  or touch themselves

 The OP was here just a moment ago.

YES a phone call to the USCUS can and does prompt a touch, that is if you call a touch a update to your online status, that reads in part "We will respond within 30 days to your inquiry, etc etc"

it happens all of the time and is one reason touches are somewhat overstated by the VJ community.

Lets just agree to disagree and congrats to the vermont guy that was approved in 23 days :)

That is not correct. However, if you chose to believe that, up to you mate. Go ahead, take another cheap shot at me. I don't give a sh!t.

.......' don't mess with Bill....no, no, no, no......... leave my Billy alone.'...............Really, you picked the wrong guy to mess with.Willaim33, I think you are first rate !

Thanks jabree. While on the topic of touches, it seems your case is following the same path as mine, with respect to the 2nd RFE.

I predict an approval for you soon. I have been correct twice, jpine and Meng. You are next!!

I didnt say that ALL!!! calls to the USCIS generate touches just sometimes they do. This in turn exxagerates touches overall, because people report touches when really it was a TOUCH only prompted by a phone call inquiry by one of us. So, maybe as a guess maybe 1 in 8 touches are generated in this way.

William33......GOD BLESS YOU !!!!! I hope you are prophesying over me, You just made me feel a whole lot better !

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

i agree with William. a touch just means you case was handled. doesn't give any indication of it's status. from the Portfolio page:

Note on "Last Updated" date:

Your case may have a new "Last Updated" date and you may receive an Email Notification of your case being updated, without the status of the case changing. This is due to internal USCIS processing being performed on your Case. This will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date, but may not result in a different status message.

I find it very hard to believe that peoples cases get approved without getting touched several days in a row beforehand. It's my opinion that those folks that say they were never touched before approved either, #1. Did not have knowledge of how to check for touches, or #2. They simply did not go online every other hour to check if their case was touched on those particular days. I believe their cases were touched however, and by the time they were approved, of course there's no way to go back and check...

just my 69 cents...

"69 cents"

And further to that, perhaps the adjudicator failed to scan your file during processing or the server crashed, effectively erasing the activity.

So many possible explanations here. We need an insider at USCIS.

I recall someone's case status being updated with the current date because they'd changed their password.

All the analysis and debate in the world will not change the fact that there IS no rhyme or reason to when the status date changes in some cases and not in others. We are/were desperate for SOME indication that our cases were moving forward. With the USCIS helpless line being all we have to go by, it's only natural for us to seek reassurance SOME way.

Sorry to say, touches are not a means of reassurance. In fact, it proves to result in the opposite effect if one ISN'T touched, as many of you can attest to. But touches, or the lack thereof, mean nothing. So whether they are overstated or not, it still means... nothing.

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

On my first few hours on this forum.. I seriously thought that there were some people out there revealing tooo much! lol. I thought they were talking about getting touched ... physically... you know ... nudge nudge.. wink wink. ;);)

Don't worry, I quickly realized my error.

As far as USCIS touches go.. the more the merrier!!!! Who cares if I am living in a fairy tale hoping for them? Fact is, they feel good.

I agree wholeheartedly, which is why I don't call them. It's bad enough that the timeline or estimated processing date they post is total horsehockey. They aren't going to "touch" my mind anymore thinking that some "progress" is being made on my case. Its a mental game I think...a cruel one.

I did enjoy quite a bit to be touched too...

Well folks, this debate could go on perpetually. Everyone has an opinion about it, differing for sure.

At the end of the day, we all like to be touched, physically that is!!!

Of that, I am sure we can agree.

It was one of those nights when you turn out the lights

And everything comes into view

The CSC was taking their time,

I was losing my mind

There was nothing that CSC would do

It wasn't the first call to them, wasn't the last

CSC knew we were desperate for a touch

I was so satisfied deep down inside

Like a hand in a velvet glove

Seems like a touch, a touch too much!!

Seems like a touch, a touch too much!!

Too much for my body, too much for my brain

That damn CSC's gonna drive me insane!!

I noticed my updates usually come from USCIS-CSSO(uscis-csso@dhs.gov) but my "phone touch" and email update came from an different email address: CRIS(uscis-srmt@dhs.gov). Anyone know what "CRIS" is?
