K-2 TO NATURALIZATION

My K-2 daughter is eligible to apply for Naturalization now. She has to apply separately from me (K-1) as I am already a U.S. citizen (09/08).

I was very surprised to see that all she needs to attach to her application is:

- a copy of her PR card,

- 2 photos, and

- a check for the fee.

Is this right? Or am I missing something?

For the daughter, I have one of those too, a step type daughter. Unmarried, never was, we do have her tax transcripts, but in their latest check list, said only to send those if you are applying under the marriage 3 year rule. But she will bring those with her just in case and also had to wait five years before applying. Half of her N-400 was blank, not even selective service as most daughters are females. And sure wasn't a member of the Communism or Nazi parties, was born after those. Nothing about her spouse, she never had one.

Total weight including a large brown envelop was under 3 ounces for her application, wife's application with all my proof and hers was more like a pound and a half. It was accepted, now waiting for the biometrics letter, St. Paul was always slow.

My daughter is eligible to apply because of "being a permanet resident for at least 5 years". She is not eligible because she married a U.S. citizen, so the checklist only lists the three things I first posted as things she has to attach to her N-400 application.

Did your daughter turn 18 before you could apply for citizenship yourself? Ours barely turned 18, did contact the USCIS on this matter when my wife could first apply, was told 18 is 18. Still a kid in high school, still a dependent, still can't drink or get a loan, still a kid. Even more of a dependent with that extra 675 bucks and 1,350 miles of driving back and forth.

My daughter is 23, and I only became a U.S. citizen 2 years ago... she was too old at that time.
