We applied for AOS in late May and had our interview 8/12. A little less than 3 months, we were happily surprised. Recieved one request for translated birth certificates, sent them in the next day.

Interview (Sacramento, CA) was pretty much on time. Swore to tell the truth, etc.

Interview was quick, friendly and professional. Not alot of questions other than going over the forms. I had a mountain of pictures, he never asked to see them. At the end I told him, "hey, I have all these documents supporting our relationship, would you like them?" He said, "Sure, I'll take them off your hands" then he looked them over and said "good".

Two snags.

One, they lost our little ones Medical exam from the original K-1, K-3 application. He said I could wait and see if it showed up, or I could get a new one. Let's see, lost in the caves of the US government, I think we'll go ahead and get a new one...

Two, waiting on the dreaded "name check". He told me the longest anybody everhad to wait was 4 years, but that hardly ever happens anymore", so now we hurry up and wait...

BUT HEY, no problem, new baby's on the way :D we are very happy (L) and we got nothing but time. Live is good, very good! :dancing:

P.S. Visajourney is the stuff!!! I don't know how we would of made it without all the good info. We followed the advice here, never talked to a friggin money grubbing lawyer, and everything went pretty smooth. A little painful when they took all our originals at the embassy in Bogota (yes, I gave them copies, they preferred originals...), and then wanted more orginals for the AOS, but all in all, pretty smooth.

THANKS EVERYONE

Yep they do that alot, lose files.

My husbands medical file for his immunizations was lost at our interview in May.

They were transferred to the correct office in June.

Good luck with the Green Card.

I am sure all will be well.

Moondancer

7-3-06 GREEN CARD ARRIVES IN MAIL!!!! Done for two years!!!!!!

I am here to help, even if it's just to offer my shoulder to cry or vent on... We are all in this together.!

My answers are based on personal experience, not fact.

We are on this rollercoaster ride together holding on for dear life.

Congrats on the approval!

The irony of these name checks that take so long is that if you were unsavory type, you be given days/months/years of additional time to do something bad. I bet if you got a job at Haliburton and needed a security clearance it wouldn't take 2 years.
