depends... however, ask the IO when done with your interview to see if they can fit you in (for the same day) or a different day and give you the oath letter on the spot...

N-400 Naturalization Timeline

06/28/11 .. Mailed N-400 package via Priority mail with delivery confirmation

07/06/11 .. Received e-mail notification of application acceptance

Hi,

Our interview will be at 9:00 AM next Wednesday at Fairfax, VA. Am I able to do the Oath Ceremony on the same day at that location?

Fairfax, VA has a same day Oath Ceremony most of the time. That being said... not always. Be prepared to do the Oath but also expect having to wait.

Our interview will be at 9:00 AM next Wednesday at Fairfax, VA. Am I able to do the Oath Ceremony on the same day at that location?

If you are a resident of DC, the answer is no. You'll have to wait for an oath ceremony in front of a DC judge. This may take a month or two.

If you are a resident of Virginia and have no name change pending, you will have your oath the same day if your interview is early enough, i.e., if you are finished by about noon. If you are finished later, your oath will be scheduled for the next day or two. If you have requested a name change, the oath will be scheduled as soon as the name change is approved by the court.

My wife will be going through the Fairfax, VA center as well. I am curious how long it took from submission to getting the interview? I've seen how some has submitted their paperwork back in July and still waiting for an interview. Just wanted to get an ideal how long the wait is going to be.

N-400 for Citizenship.

Thank you all. From reading your input, it seems like we are going to have the Oath Ceremony at 2PM because our interview time is at 9AM.

By the way, my wife is nursing the baby. Does the baby need to go thru metal detector too or I can wait in the lobby or something?

Does anyone have any updates on how things are progressing in the Fairfax office?

Anyone had an interview there recently?

I am trying to see what the current wait is like and find others who are on the same journey.

I hear the workload is heavy right now, and would love to hear from anyone that is in line and still waiting.

FYI - My file was transferred to Fairfax on Nov 24th and is now 'awaiting an available slot for interview'. I am filing for N400 under 319b as non-military.
