for the sake of argument, do "90210"

This district has 2 reps...

Notice the discrepancy between the "white" part of the district and the "Latino" part of the district.

Then notice how this makes a difference in other cities as well.... Interesting enough...

Yeah. Notice the difference in White and Black human development for the state of Wisconsin. The difference is shocking.

Using median income as a measure of the standard of living is misleading, almost obviously so, in my opinion. In a rural area, a family of four would have a nice sized house, some cars, and decent access to food, clothing, entertainment, etc. on a salary of even $50,000 a year. In NYC, they couldn't afford a studio apartment and daily transportation on that salary. Local salaries and wages reflect this reality so naturally median income will be higher in metropolitan areas but that doesn't necessarily correspond to a higher standard of living.

And it's not as if there isn't a better to measure standard of living by using location specific salary comparisons to determine the buying power of the median income in an area.

Fair enough, but the Index comprises much more than mere income.
