Some people have posted on this already, but I just wanted to let Ghana people know that the embassy there does require tax transcripts with the I-134. My fiance's interview was on November 1st, and it went very well for the most part. The officer was nice and he only asked my fiance a few questions about how and when we met and about my visits to ghana. He called me in and asked me about my time in ghana, my job and living situation. I did not have tax transcripts, since I had employment issues last year. However, I had enough other evidence to technically satisfy all the qualifications on the form and am financially secure for this year, which is the year I filed. The officer told me that the embassy in Accra requires tax transcripts. I asked why when the form does not require them. He said it is a "POST POLICY". Because of that he required me to get a cosponsor. He gave us another date the following week to get in the forms from the cosponsor. He only asked for the tax transcripts for 2009, not three years back, and that was all we provided. He didn't need anything else from the cosponsor, just the I-134 with the original signature (mailed not faxed), and the tax transcripts for 2009. We are praising God that it worked out in the end, and we were able to get a cosponsor and all required forms DHLed and faxed in time.

But it did delay us a few weeks and I just want to let those who are preparing know.

The officer also told us there would be "significant" administrative processing on our case and that it could be days or months. He would not elaborate on what that meant. this was a separate issue from the cosponsor issue and it also didn't have anything to do with our relationship because the officer told us he had no doubts about that. He did ask my fiance about where he has lived and about his parents, and then had him spell out all the names of his siblings. So I think that had something to do with it. My fiance is a Muslim and I have to answer extra questions every time I moneygram him, so could that be a reason?

Has anyone else from dealt with this? There were several other interviews in ghana around the same time, and none of them have mentioned admin processing. We have everything in now and they told my fiance they will call him to pick up the visa. but they didn't give any time frame for when they will call and he isn't sure whether he should stay on in Accra or take the twelve hour trip back home to tamale.

I'm not worried because God has helped us this far. But I'm just wondering about it and if anyone else has gone through the same thing.

admin processing is usual for high fraud or terrorist countries.since you said not many people in your embassy went through it ,its must have been a luck of draw.its normal and while it will delay receiving your visa in hand, its nothing special, dont worry.check the regional forum to get more info about people who DID go through AP at the same embassy

When we had our interview in 2008 we were also put into AP, but we were given a specific date to come back for a second interview (just really to drop off more documents that the CO wanted). I don't think it has anything to do with your fiance being Muslim. Its not really an issue in Ghana.

Not many people in Ghana go though AP so it may just be something random.

Good luck.
