Hello all,

Long time lurker. Second time poster.

My wife recently got her CR-1 visa approved. We are leaving for SFO tomorrow from Beijing, China.

We were told we needed:

-Passport w/visa

-Brown package that we're not supposed to open (visa materials / foreign service)

-X-Rays

I just wanted to double check that the above was all we needed to get through the port of entry and if there was anything else we needed.

At immigration upon arrival, passengers are divided into two lines. PRs and US Citizens go one way and visitors another. Does anyone know which line we go to? Can we both go in either? Or are we do go in separate lines?

Lastly, the guides indicate that for CR-1 holders are PRs as soon as they step through the port of entry. Does this mean we are issued a green card on-site? Or is there an after the fact application process like the SS card.

Thanks for your time people ;) This site has been an invaluable resource.

Best,

-S

Congrats on the approval!

We weren't told to bring the x-rays, I've read here that some people bring them JUST IN CASE, but I haven't read they ever ask for them. Bring them with you in case it makes you feel comfortable and secure.

Yes, your wife can go in the line with you for US Citizens and LPR, that's what we did. We just had our POE on 11-01, CBP officer only asked for passport and sealed envelope. Then I was taken to a different room where my husband couldn't come. I waited for about 30 min, until they opened the envelope and called me to sign a form and fingerprints. Then they gave me my passport back with the CR-1 stamp on it.

Good luck!!
