Some question on I-130 & G-325A

I'm new here! Quick background: I'm helping my USC (naturalized) dad file these forms to bring his wife over to the US from Mexico (she has never been to the US). I've done a LOT of snooping around the forums and it has been incredibly, amazingly helpful, but I do still have a few questions leftover that I need some help with please! Thank you in advance!

I-130 Questions

  • In section B, Question 2 asks for the petitioner's address. My dad does live in the US and has a physical address, but prefers to receive mail at his PO box. Is it okay to put a PO Box here or should it be the physical address?
  • 18. Address in the United States where your relative intends to live. I can put his physical address in here, but again, he'd rather not receive mail there and as I understand, the green card, etc. will go to this address later? Is it better to just put someone else's address - like my own?
  • Q21. "If filing for your husband/wife, give last address at which you lived together." My dad is on a lease with his wife for an apartment in Tijuana where she lives. He goes there to visit her on the weekends for about 3 days. Do I put their address in this box?
  • F. "Signature of person preparing this form". I have read that this doesn't need to be filled out if it's just friends or family helping out, but I would like to get copies of everything that is sent out, and I was wondering if this is how I would be able to do it, if at all? Or does this just complicate things too much?
  • Lastly, I have everything together as far as documents required, but I've noticed that some people tend to submit a ton of evidence to prove bona fide marriage. I have a good chunk of pictures that show the progression of the relationship over the years, the joint lease agreement, and marriage cert, but no affidavits or additional things like that. Do I need to get more?

G-325A Questions - In reference to the one for my father, the petitioner only

  • A File Number. I'm not sure what this is or what to put here? I've put "none".
  • Again, an address question. "21. If filing for your husband/wife, give last address at which you lived together." - As I mentioned, he is on a joint lease with his wife. He doesn't live there full time, but they have been there for a year. Do I put this address?
  • "Alien Registration Number" - My father is a naturalized USC. Do I put "none" or "N/A" here, or do I put the old number in? I've seen debate about this and so I'm very confused as to what I should do. I'm inclined to put "N/A - USC".

I think that's about it. I guess those are a lot of questions - sorry. But, I would really, really appreciate the help and guidance! Thank you!!

I-130

- very little mail will come to your father. I'd put his physical address to keep things consistent

- again, put his physical address

- visiting for 3 days is not living. If he has not formally lived with her (ie - longer than a few days a month) then put N/A here

- you can take a copy of the I-130 packet and have him give you a copy of the NOA-1. That way you can keep up to date online. Putting your name in that space doesn't ensure anything

- some people dealing with difficult consulates, like lagos or China, will overload their petition. Focus on Primary evidence and move on.

G-325A

- each person, the petitioner and the foreign spouse, need to complete the G-325A so I'm not sure whose form you are asking about. If an A number doesn't apply, put N/a

- Again, visiting is not living together, especially if he is not authorized to 'live' in Mexico

Hope this helps

Good luck

Good answers already but I'll add that any naturalized citizen has an A number. (Alien number) The question is applicable. Either answer with the number or unknown, not N/A. For the rest of the questions use this rule of thumb. Read carefully, interpret literally and answer accurately. Only if asked for a "mailing address if different from residence address" would you use a PO Box. You can always show both though, like 123 Main Street, PO Box 456, City, ST Zip

Thanks so much!!

Sorry, just a couple more questions.

1) My dad's wife address does not fit in Section C, Line 2. Even with abbreviations and whatnot -- it's still pretty far off. I've verified that indeed everything he wrote down is necessary for receiving mail, so there's no way to shorten. If I attach a sheet with the address should I just write "Please see attached" in the address field? Or do I try to put something down here as well?

2) Section C - line 17. I'm putting him and her two kids, yes? Even though those are not kids they had together? Just confirming.

Thanks again!

Separate sheets are fine. C-17 asks you to list her spouse and children, so yes, her spouse and her children, no matter what age.
