Question regarding I-864

I have been living abroad and not working for most if not all of this year.

Is it a problem if I don't have any income to show on my affidavit of support?

I do have a qualify joint sponsor.

If you did not worked for this year then its fine.But have you any past years tax returns documents?? You are not making any income for this year then you can use any Household member's income if he/she is living with you at the same address. If thats not possible then you can use any Co-sponsor.It may be anyone like your relative or any friend.

Any US Citizen or LPR can be a sponsor. If your cosponsor is a household member that person would complete the form I-864A to go along with your form I-864. See the form instructions to determine if your cosponsor qualifies as a household member.

If the cosponsor is not a household member they complete a form I-864.

So a co-sponsor is someone who is willing to provide an affidavit of support in conjunction with mine.

He only has to fill out form I-864 or I-864A and all supporting documents, correct?

Yes, whichever form is applicable to them but it's a joint sponsor not a co-sponsor. One affidavit from each of you, even if you have no income.

The "household member" is:

->A relative who has the same principal residence as the sponsor and is related to the sponsor as a spouse, adult child, parent, or sibling;

->A relative or other person whom the sponsor has lawfully claimed as a dependent on the sponsor's most recent Federal

income tax return even if that person does not live at the same residence as the sponsor;

->The intending immigrant, in certain circumstances. (See "How Can the Intending Immigrant Be Considered a Household Member"?)

Yes you are absolutely right,it contain all the answers itself.But Anh map,i think mostly people(like me and others) knows their answers but all they are just ask for double confirmation and check. Because this immigration stage is too tuff if somebody will make a small mistake then. What do you think??

That's correct. I've been at this more than 2 years now. I know pretty much what to do. Just making double sure.

Even with all the correct papers, there is no guarantee. I've waste almost 2 years already with my K-1.
