well i figured i would add an update for everyone here I took 2 weeks off from work & went to see my sweetie in the Philippines

we had a great time but once my time was up i had to come back to new hampshire & get back to work.I was however able to download some forms while i was rite there & my wife & i filled out everything that we could rite there at the internet cafe (no need to do all of that really small writing on a big stack of forms) :)

so i'm now back home & today i called our friends in portsmouth. i had a couple of questions, 1st how can I do a change of address (not the AR-11)

the ar-11 is only for someone who is already here in the US come to find out the guy i talked to could update my wife's address over the phone :)

the 2nd thing i called for was a mailing address for the "choice of address & agent" & incase someone is still as uninformed as i was i'll post it here

National Visa Center

ANNT: WC

31 Rochester Av.

Portsmouth, NH 03801

well i am off to add the $88 into my checking account so i can pay the AOS fee

my wife & i are a little behind from some other filers due to the fact that we had to stop & wait for her to take her nursing exam in her home country, well she is now finished with that so i guess it's time to get into high gear & bang out the rest of this papaerwork.

thanks all for your help

piglett

Hey piglett! glad to see you're moving forward now. I'm planning to send off my AOS packet soon, and figure out when we want to send the hubby's application (both fees have been paid for a while now). I wish I could move to where he is.. but I'd have to deal with the FIL then. Let me just say NO. :P

Holding my nose and jumping off the cliff.. hope I don't hit any rocks in the water.

To all of you who have been of support through this process with me....thank you so much for that. I wish the best for all of you. My own visa journey has come to an end. I am withdrawing my petition.

well let me tell you a little about my story Moroccan-Wife

Last year after talking to a lady from the Philippines for a year & a half,i decided to throw the dice.

i was 39 never been married & i decided to marry a woman on the other side of the planet THAT I HAD NEVER MET IN PERSON!!!

No i wasn't on drugs or under a doctor's care , i has chatted on YM with this lady & also exchanged many emails but

i had only seen her on a webcam. i sent 1/2 of the wedding money to her not knowing if i would get ripped off, which could have happened or worse. However i figured that if i had done a good job learning about ladies from the Philippines

(i read 2 books on the subject & joined 4 on-line fourms dealing with asian brides)

then i figured all would work out fine & if i had made a bad choice then i figured that i would soon know.

well our wedding went well but before i left the Philippines i had been instructed by a couple of old timers who had been married to their pinay wife for many years to have a up front talk with my new in-laws about money.

not doing so i was told would become a huge problem so .....i had the talk with them.

WOW did my wife ever get mad at me for that, even though i told her that "i had to"

the bad part was that her & i didn't really have a chance to talk about this due to the fact that i had to get on a plane the next morning. over the next year we had some ups & downs

many people thought my wife was now rich & asked her for money "but not her parents"

what i found out is this, when the person you married is on the other side of the planet & also thinks in a different way because of where they grew up there can be lots of small & sometimes big problems that show up that are really hard to solve......WHY? because you can't sit down fact to face & talk them through.

so a couple of weeks ago having seen that things between me & my wife were not going so well

(at times she gave clues that she wanted to just stay in the Philippines)

i got on a plane & her & i had some good face to face talks

many of our problems are not problems anymore

so i'll say this Moroccan-wife if you ever loved this man (you married him so i guess you did ....rite?)

do whatever it takes to get on a plane ASAP & talk with him face to face.

even if it doesn't end up working out for the 2 of you your will then know that your did your best

also if you want to yell , cry, or whatever do it rite there with him :)

best of luck

The I-864 goes along with the $88 fee that you've paid. The $404 goes with the DS230 (both parts). They'll not specifically ask for them (at least, I haven't gotten a RFE for either form, even though I've paid the fees), and you have a year to send them in, along with all supporting documents. I haven't a clue about the 169 form, that's not a number I'm familiar with. :P

And sure, the FIL is TONS of fun if you like arguing with a stone wall. :hehe:

Nor is that form listed on the USCIS site.. and it's not listed on the electronic processing site as something which needs to be filled out. I think that form is no longer applicable, piglett.. you just need the I864 and DS230. :)

*gets ready to press the post button, has Important Thought*

You know, it could be the original Choice of Agent form. it's the DS3032 now. But you've emailed that in already, right?

PIGLETT,

is that form for nvc or something for the consulate?? lol we're all trying to figure it out...

it's from the VJ's step by step guide

but yes CanadaLove i already mailed the ds-3032

the OF-169 is said to be in the packet that you receive, however my wife never got her packet ......long story

piglett

here i am not making this up :wacko::innocent:

A few weeks after you have received your last Notice of Action indicating the approval and forwarding of your I-130 application to the NVC, the NVC will send your relative a packet of forms that you and your relative must fill out before your relative can be given an interview date with a consulate abroad. The packet will likely contain an Of-169 form, and an Of-230 part one and two forms that must be filled out by the intending immigrant. An I-864 form is also included that must be filled out by the petitioner (living in the US). The I-864 is the Affidavit of Support form that requires copies of the petitioners past 3 U.S tax returns (or tax transcripts which are free from the IRS) as well as any bank or financial records available (see the I-864 for exact requirements based on your case). The petitioner must make at least 125% above the U.S federal poverty to indicate to the U.S government that the intending immigrant will not become a federal charge to the government when he/she arrives in the U.S.. If the petitioner cannot meet these requirements, then he/she must still file an I-864, and find a joint sponsor who can meet the requirements on his/her own. When a joint sponsor is needed ,proof of their U.S citizenship or permanent residency is required. (i.e. copy of birth certificate, immigration status etc). The joint sponsor must be residing in the U.S, and he/she must also submit his/her past 3 years U.S tax returns along with bank or any other financial records available. The joint sponsor must submit his/her own I-864 form to accompany the petitioner's I-864 form.

Forms that may be either sent back (or requested to be gathered and kept for the interview) to the NVC or the consulate abroad (depending upon which consulate you are going through) before an interview date with a consulate abroad can be scheduled are as follows:

Pre-Interview Forms / Items: 1. Completed and signed OF-169.

2. Completed and signed Of-230 Part 1 and 2 forms.

3. I-864 Affidavit of Support Form along with past 3 year U.S tax returns (or transcripts) and any other financial documents required.

4. A copy of intending immigrants biographic page of passport(s) including expiration date.

5. Original or certified "long" birth certificate. *

6. Original adoption decree. (if applicable)

7. Marriage certificate. (if applicable)

8. Divorce decree(s) or death certificate(s) (if applicable)

9. Police certificate(s) **

10. Court and prison records.(if applicable)

11. Custody records. (if applicable)

12. Military records (if applicable)
