I had my interview today and it was a piece of cake. My green card 3rd anniversary is only next week so I'll have to wait for a couple of weeks until they schedule my oath ceremony.

I'm glad our journey is almost over.

Good luck to you all!

Congrats!!!!

No longer in the hands of the USCIS, for my wife at least, next up MIL.

Hi, Mi & Mo

First of all congratulations on passing you interview and i hope you get the Oath letter soon. i just had a question, you mentioned that you got your interview date before the 3rd anniversary of your green card, so did the IO approve you right away? or did he/ she said that they will have to wait until your anniversary to approve you and then send the Oath letter?

Please let me know because i'm applying in San Francisco, CA as well and was just thinking if they schedule my interview before my green card anniversary.

Thanks again

@Mi & Mo - congratulations!!

@ Mi & Mo and safroot,

I got bit confused about your comment about 3-year green card anniversary. Is it possible to apply for US citizenship before 3-year residence in US is complete? I thought we had to wait for at 3 years and then only apply for the citizenship.

you apply 90 days before the 3rd year anniversary of the green card. so in case of Mi & Mo they got the interview date before that 3rd year anniversary day so that's why i asked this question. check out the thread they put titled Interview Experience in San Francisco, CA for more clarification.

@Champi: Citizenship based on marriage to a US citizen is only granted after 3 years of permanent residency. However, according to USCIS, we can submit our citizenship application 3 months before the 3rd anniversary of green card because they assume that in most cases that's how long it takes from the moment they receive a N400 application to the date of the interview. In my case, the interview was scheduled 1 week before the completion of the 3 year window. So although I passed the test, the officer who interviewed me explained that they'll hold my application for a couple of days before they recommend it for approval. He told me that they'll schedule the oath ceremony for the end of the month or beginning of February. A little bit confusing but I hope it makes sense.

@Safroot: Just so you know, there's no oath ceremony on the same day of the interview at the San Francisco office; in fact, the ceremony only takes place every other week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, CA.

I wish you many many good luck..., my interview is one day after yours... I'm planning to go there with Hubby and my 1 month old baby... It'll take us about an hour and 45 minutes driving... and I'm just freaking out "have I prepared all the paperwork to bring? do I miss something?", "Am I going to remember all the answers for 100 questions?"... sigh

I wish you the same Nanggroe. Anything to do with immigration always makes us nervous and when each stage is over I wonder why I was nervous in the first place. I am sure WE will be fine... but for the heck of it, lets keep worrying, lol. :bonk:

@JA Tam: Good luck tomorrow!

@Bonner Bonner and Nanngroe: I'm sure you're more than ready for the interview. Have you tried the online "Naturalization Self Test" on USCIS website? It's helpful. Here's the link: http://www.uscis.gov...0004718190aRCRD

Everything will be fine guys!
