That's been my understanding. Ask the question over in the Phils regional forum for a better answer.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Sadly, true. While I believe you can still try,(still go through the process, approval etc, then denied at the Interview) the odds of being approved without meeting the income guidelines are astronomically high.

From what other VJ members have said recently it seems that co-sponsors have been accepted if the cosponsor is a close relative.

Do some reading in the PI regional forum to learn more.

Hi stoney2010...

Don't worry, the U.S. Embassy Manila (USEM) still accepts cosponsors. Many VJerz in the Philippines forum have used cosponsors. A friend of mine used a cosponsor in August at the USEM.

My friend used his brother as his cosponsor. Instead of submitting an I-134 from the cosponsor, my friend submitted an I-864 (plus the accompanying documentation). It worked fine. His Pinay fiancée arrived here in September and they will be married soon.

Best wishes for a speedy visa! :star:

I hate to be the kill joy...but check out this thread on cosponsers in Manila. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/262022-k1-visa-denied-help-pls/

Also, this http://www.myfilipinavisa.com/faq.htm

and this http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/274669-k1-visa-denied/

Again, I'm sorry not trying to be discouraging, just want you ,OP, to be very realistic, that co-sponsers for K1's in Manila are very, very very tough.

Good luck
