It is possible to do N-400 up to 90 days prior to the 3-year anniversary of your GC issuance (in your case CR-1)--even if you do not have the 10-year GC in hand (copies of the extension letter and temporary 2-year GC will work as evidence).

NOT certain if I understand correct of i am wrong.

You did not file for the N-400 during the 90 days leading up to the 3 year mark? What do you mean the 10 year green card has passed..?

If you have a green card that was issued for 10 years than you can apply for the N400 anytime. When You hit say 4 years.. you can still apply based on the initial 3 year mark when you hot 5 year mark... you can just take the 5 year rule.

You're only able to remove your condition once. IF say it was not removed when you should have filed then that would mean you are out of status.

You will have a 10 year green card since you filed for removal of conditions; you only do that once, when you are changing from 2 year conditional green card to 10 year green card.

When you meet the residency requirement for citizenship, you may apply as described by Saddle Bronc and RICARDO4EVA2...if you decide not to apply for citizenship, you can just renew your green card every 10 years (provided you meet the residency requirement for that too)...until you are ready to apply for citizenship/naturalization.

I got this answer from my dads' immigration email

Hello Jonah, it is possible to apply for citizenship 2 year and 9 months from the initial date you received conditional permanent residence, which should be printed on your permanent residence card.

Best,

But lost girl... I did answer that question earlier this morning. Your dad however did confirm it all. The 2 year and 9 months is the same as the "90 day" mark we spoke of prior the anniversary or issue date.

Technically 2 years 9 months is incorrect as some months have 31 days and the application window is 90 prior to the anniversary.
