Received the 10 year Green card and the photo on it is in B&W instead of being in color. The conditional resident card is in color. Has anyone else received such a green card? Could you please let me know. Has the USCIS started sending them in B&W recently??

Thanks Mari&Ryan.. But are the photos at least clear enough to recognize the face :-)

Not sure if ours is clear enough?

Are they using another technology or machine readers to read the photograph while entering the US?

When I was applying for a reentry permit in 2008, at the biometrics the guy took my picture without using a flash. My photo ended up only showing a dark face with a shiny tooth. Looked a lot like a pirate.

Is yours blurry?

It's not blurry, but it's very dark.

Maybe they are trying to save on ink ;)

That is odd - but, if they do scan your GC, of course, their system will display the colored copy of it. It probably is a measure of security (that way people do not steal GCs and try to look/appear similar to the ones in the photo, especially eye and hair color ).

That's my guess.

Hi journeyman,

I've just received my 10-year green card and my photo is also dark, like yours. Have you had any trouble using it? It's a comfort knowing that others also received a GC with a dark photo. I though mine was a mistake, or perhaps the photographer/agent on duty that day was a newbie.

Best,
Blue Bianchi

It's not blurry, but it's very dark.

Hi Okalian,

My photo is slightly pixelized, but it's dark like your photo. Have you had any trouble with using your green card because of this?

Thanks,

Blue Bianchi
