So, my legal name is Natalie, but everyone, even my parents, call me Tasha. I filled out all the I-129F with Natalie because it's my legal name, but put Tasha as another name I go by on my G-325a. The problem is that all the emails and cards/letters my fiance and I have between us use Tasha, not Natalie (my email addresses also contain Tasha not Natalie). Is this going to be a problem when we provide more evidence of relationship stuff at the embassy, or am I okay since I put Tasha on the G-325a?

Not Natalie :)

Did the same thing everyone calls me by my nick name no one uses my full real name ever. At the interview my interviewer asked me if I like to go by my name or my nick name, I told him I normally go by my nick name and he addressed me with my nick name the rest of the interview when he spoke to me. My interview was in Canada but honestly I think everyone has a nick name now a days and I dont think its something really to worry on too much. You could always explain it if it comes up too.

Just explain that you go by Tasha in a cover letter that will accompany all of your evidence and you should be fine.

Well...that's what AKA is...also known as. So for me, I treated my nickname as an alias.

When I was still working in the Philippines, I used my nickname on my business cards. No one ever calls me by my legal name except the silly telemarketers who don't know you have a nickname. lol Besides, I figured that if the feds ever did a background check on me, more people know me by my nickname more than my legal name...so I put it on my G-325A as other names known by. Didn't have to include any other explanation with it.

But if you use your legal name in all official transactions (like signing contracts) or official identification, then you only have to put your legal name(s) on the NBI clearance.

For the purposes of illustration, let's say my names were:

Single: Jennifer Jane Ramos Mendoza (as listed on my birth certificate)

First Marriage: Jennifer Jane Mendoza Santos

Second Marriage: Jennifer Jane Mendoza Jones

I've been married twice so on my NBI clearance my name is listed as follows:

Name: MENDOZA de JONES, JENNIFER JANE y RAMOS

AKA: MENDOZA de SANTOS, JENNIFER JANE y RAMOS

Is a nickname considered an alias? Would the NVC/USCIS/US Embassy/Consulate expect that the nickname be included in the name search when getting a police clearance/certificate?
