CR1 VISA via DCF at Delhi and Chennai

Hi Everyone,

I applyed for CR1 visa for my wife via DCF process in India and wanted to document our journey.

The issues we faced during the way

1. Found out US citizen need not be in India for the mandatory 90 days and it is at the discretion of the Embassy and it is evaluated case by case base

2. Also Found out that Hyderabad Consulate cannot do Immigrant Visa Applications as of now as USCIS Services is not there yet.

3. Getting Police Clearance Certificate from all the places where my Spouse lived and getting Passport clearance Certificate is quite an hassle ( it normally takes 2 to 6 months, if you do not know people, so it is better to get that going else like in India everything else works with a Jack)

4. The Medical checkup was also an hassle, the doctor's are very rude and they initally gave us Sept 30th even though our Interview date was Sept 8th.

5. My wife went for the interview, we were not aware of taking a check again for the VISA for Rs 19000 and it was not mentioned anywhere in the website or the documents sent to us. But we got the money order and all went well.

Wow.....awasome...too fast. Only 2 month?? I see that if ur consulate is New delhi or Chennai ,then you are lucky .Your DCF journey will be finished within 2 months. The reason is like this. If your local consulate(juridiction over on area) is New Delhi ,then they will give you Packet-3 at the same time when u submit I-130. So thus it saves 3 weeks for receiving of Packet-3 and submitting back. While in Chennai, there are few immigrant applications,so u will get ur interview date very quickly and early. Only applicants whose consulate is Mumbai, they are unlucky, because it takes almost 3 months or sometimes more than that.:(:o
