I was wondering if anyone has had this experience with USCIS. Our AOS case was transferred to CSC back in July. We got an update that it was being transferred to the local office on 9-8-10. We got the letter yesterday in the mail. It only says that the case was transferred to speed up processing and we would hear from them once a decision is made. I know that can mean an interview, which is fine. We may actually get the card sooner than later doing the interview seeing how CSC seems to be backlogged right now. But yesterday I took my husband to take the written part of the driver license test (for the 3rd time, lol) and when they called him up he came back to get me and the lady explained something about they cant let him take it right now. They got some kind of message in the system that immigration is requesting additional evidence. She said that they have to send them the documents and when they get a response from immigration they will contact him to come in to take the test. I was floored as he has taken this test twice before with no problem. But since we got a notice the case was transferred now he had a problem. I called USCIS twice- spoke to a supervisor one of those times- the supervisor just said that the two systems are connected and if USCIS has done something with his EAD card then we have to do an info pass to see what is going on. I called the DMV to see if I can get more info. The lady I spoke with explained that when they get those messages they have to forward the documents to DHS and once they get a response (normally in two to three days) they will call him to come in to take the test. I have contacted my senators office to see if they can check on it for us before I do an infopass (have to travel quite a ways to the local office). Does anyone know anything about this type of situation?

It sounds like the h-ll of having a Nigerian SO and dealing with immigration is following you even to the US. I am not sure how many pounds of AOS paperwork you sent in but it appears you are going through some sort of fraud investigation in the US. They may be doing extra checks and gather their own evidence . I hope this doesn't means you are headed for a STOKES interview. You are a bit above the posted time for the office so I would prepare for a bit of a hassle during your interview. Act like you are back at the embassy and prepare well.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge that "Nigeria" is the problem. The letter they got sounds like they are trying to resolve the current backup at CSC (see threads about the slow-down). The problem at DMV might be just some sort of silly error in the reporting system.

They were allowed to take the test without problems two times, and now that their case was recently transferred (the letter openly states it is to help speed the process and back-log up) something went wonky at DMV. And you assume that the problem is "Nigeria" and that they are headed for a Stokes interview? What? I know Nigeria is a high fraud country, but there is no evidence that I see that indicates that.

To the OP: Sorry, no idea what is going on, but you could make Infopass and inquire whether they got your file and ask your other questions. Good luck.

AOS for my husband

Everything will be fine, being a Nigerian is not the problem at all.It has noting to do with Nigeria.I am a Nigerian I came in January this year on student visa and I just got my green card. You should remember me " the birth certificate stuff" .Mine took 88days.Maybe the USCIS is trying to check-up some stuff and is base on individual not the country of origin.I would implore you to seek way to know what is going on.I guess they will tell you the processing time is 6months and yours has not exceeded just that.Try to schedule infopass appointment and know what is going on.As they normally say, everybody case is different.Just pray for prompt response.I wish you all the best.

I spoke with someone at my Senators office this afternoon. She said the DMV issue is a normal process. She said they can issue a two year driver license for someone with a EAD only, but first need to verify the AOS is indeed pending with USCIS. She said she is working on a few cases like this now. She said if they dont contact him in a week to call her back and she will contact the main DMV in our state to inquire what is taking them so long.

My wife and I just went through this. The system sends a message saying that additional verification is required. It just may be that no one checked the Save system since he had not actually passed his test yet. It took 5.5 weeks but they verified all the information.
